As her questline progresses, you’ll eventually be forced to make a decision: should you tell her what the blacksmith said in Elden Ring? Let’s dive in!

Should you Tell Roderika About What the Blacksmith Said in Elden Ring?

You should tell her what the blacksmith said. This will set Roderika on the path to becoming a Spirit-Tuner, which is essential for upgrading your best Spirit Ashes and starts a quest later in the game concerning the Blacksmith. There’s no downside to this choice.

If you try to return to the shack you found her at and give her the item, you will notice that she is missing. This is because she has taken up residence in the Roundtable Hold and should be your first clue that there is more to this NPC than meets the eye.

After you give her the item, you may notice a new option appears when talking to the Blacksmith to talk about Roderkia. Asking him about it will make him tell you that she has great power from his perspective.

Elden-Ring-Roderika

He says she has the ability to become a Spirit-Tuner, something that has not been talked about by any other NPC at this point. From here you have two options, You can either tell Roderika about what the Blacksmith said and have her start down the path to become a Spirit-Tuner, or let her keep standing around the Roundtable hold doing nothing.

Obviously, as mentioned before, you will want to tell her about what the Blacksmith said and get her started down the Spirit-Tuner path. There is no real downside to telling her about this, it is the only way to upgrade your Spirit Ashes and it begins a quest later in the game concerning the Blacksmith.

A lot of things in Elden Ring can seem really confusing about what you should do. But when it comes to this choice, there really is no choice. You should always tell Roderika about what the Blacksmith says.

roderika-spirit-tuner-use-glovewort
Screenshot by Attack of the Fanboy

It’s not because you should tell her what the blacksmith said that you should always do everything an NPC says in Elden Ring, especially if you want them to stay alive. But in this one situation, nothing bad can happen. If you need any more help with Elden Ring make sure to check out our other guides.

Who is Roderika in Elden Ring?

Roderika is initially found in a shack on the way to Stormveil Castle. She appears fragile and scared, speaking about her fear of being grafted onto a spider monster. Her transformation into a Spirit-Tuner, facilitated by your intervention and the blacksmith’s guidance, allows you to upgrade your Spirit Ashes, enhancing your combat capabilities significantly.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

FFXIV Hard Mode Trials: How to Unlock The Navel, Howling Eye, and Bowl of Embers (Hard) https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/final-fantasy-xiv-how-to-unlock-hard-versions-of-the-navel-bowl-of-embers-and-howling-eye/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/final-fantasy-xiv-how-to-unlock-hard-versions-of-the-navel-bowl-of-embers-and-howling-eye/#respond Wed, 22 Nov 2023 19:16:04 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=838168 Before moving on to Heavensward and continuing the main storyline of Final Fantasy XIV, you need to unlock the first set of Hard mode Trials. Unlocking these Trials can be confusing, so this guide will show you how to unlock all three Hard Trials to progress the MSQ in FFXIV.

While you’re free to unlock Hard modes of The Navel, The Bowl of Embers, and The Howling Eye as soon as you complete “The Ultimate Weapon” quest and roll credits on the main storyline of A Realm Reborn, you aren’t required to do so until Patch 2.5’s “Good Intentions” quest. Before you can start this Patch’s storyline, the game will force you to complete these three Hard mode Trials before you can proceed.

Don’t let the naming scheme fool you: “Hard” Trials in Final Fantasy XIV are anything but. Anything marked as “Hard” just means it’s a higher-level version of an earlier fight. For example, The Navel (Hard) just means you’re fighting Titan again, but at level 50. In Heavensward, there aren’t any Normal difficulty Trials, just Hard. From Stormblood onward, the game drops the “Hard” moniker altogether.

How to Unlock Hard Mode Trials in Final Fantasy XIV

To unlock the Hard difficulty versions of The Navel, The Howling Eye, and The Bowl of Embers, visit Minfilia in The Solar at The Waking Sands and accept the quest “A Recurring Problem.” This will send you to Urianger, who will walk you through unlocking all three of these Trials.

The Bowl of Embers (Hard)

Final-Fantasy-XIV-Ifrit
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Speaking to Urianger will conclude the “A Recurring Problem” quest. From there, speak to Thancred (X: 6.1, Y: 5.1) nearby to begin the quest “Ifrit Bleeds, We Can Kill It.” This will send you on a brief stint to Ul’dah before finally granting you access to The Bowl of Embers (Hard), a level 50 version of the Ifrit Trial.

The Howling Eye (Hard)

Final-Fantasy-XIV-Garuda

After dealing with Ifrit and completing that quest, head back to The Waking Sands and talk to Papalymo (X: 6.1, Y: 5.0) to start the quest “In for Garuda Awakening.” This quest is just as easy as the previous one, sending you to Gridania and then Coerthas to prepare for a rematch with Garuda in The Howling Eye (Hard).

The Navel (Hard)

Final-Fantasy-XIV-Titan
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Titan is the last Primal on the list before you can return to the MSQ. To unlock this Trial, head back to the Waking Sands yet again and speak to Y’shtola (X: 6.1, Y: 5.1) to start “In a Titan Spot.” You know the drill by this point. Speak to the required NPCs and then attune to the Aetheryte to unlock The Navel (Hard).

Related: Best Final Fantasy XIV Servers

At this point, you’re free to continue the main storyline and wrap up A Realm Reborn’s patch content! If you want to push yourself further, however, then Urianger has even more optional quests for you to accept after defeating Titan. “Primal Nature” will unlock the Extreme versions of these Trials (which are actually hard), and “Primal Awakening” will unlock The Binding Coil of Bahamut raid.

The Best Solo Classes and Jobs in Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/the-best-solo-classes-and-jobs-in-final-fantasy-xiv-endwalker/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/the-best-solo-classes-and-jobs-in-final-fantasy-xiv-endwalker/#respond Tue, 14 Nov 2023 23:22:35 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=842265 It’s hard to point out the best solo classes and jobs in Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker. The choice of class for solo play is less about the class itself and more about the player’s preference.

While Final Fantasy XIV is a game centered around party play, many changes were made so newcomers to play by themselves. There are also missions that force you to play solo. While these main scenario missions are not too hard, you may have trouble doing public FATEs by yourself depending on your class.

Best Solo Classes in Final Fantasy XIV

The game’s design ensures that all classes are viable for solo play, with each offering a unique flavor while adhering to the core principles of their respective roles. Whether you’re a tank, healer, or DPS, the community is generally supportive and understanding, especially toward newcomers. Still, there might be some newbie-friendly classes that demand less effort from newcomers, such as:

Warrior

FF-XIV-Warrior

As outlined in the tank tier list, Warrior has great solo sustain. combine that with decent damage and the tankiness of well…a tank. Since the main issue you will run into with FATEs is dying playing as a tank class seems like an easy fix. However, even a tank with low sustain will have trouble staying alive while trying to solo a FATE and if you have to focus on healing yourself then you won’t be able to do enough damage to finish the FATE in time.

But with Warrior, you don’t need to decrease your damage to heal yourself and you have plenty of sustain to stay in the fight the whole time. Warrior also doesn’t have the worst damage out of all the tanks, so as long as you focus you should be able to kill boss FATEs within the time limit.

Red Mage

FFXIV-Red-Mage

When you think of a jack of all trades DPS, Red Mage should come to mind. in previous Final Fantasy games, the Red Mage was also an intermediary class between Black Mage and White Mage, and this idea holds true in Final Fantasy XIV. The class is a firm mix of caster, with a little bit of melee burst that you use for your bit combos.

The big draw of this class for solo play is the ability to instant cast a heal as many times as your mana will allow. You can do this because of the free swift cast Red Mage gets after every full spell cast. If you cast a shorter spell to deal some damage, you can then consume the swift cast charge to cast a quick cure on yourself.

Related: The Best Food for Every Job in Final Fantasy XIV

While the heal is a nice bonus, you do still need to be careful as this will put a drain on your mana. As long as you dodge a few AOEs from a boss or give yourself a bit of regen time between smaller fights, you should be fine though.

Of course, the reason you are playing Red Mage instead of a tank or healer is that you want to do a lot of damage. Don’t worry though, Red Mage has you covered. Use your swift cast charges to cast bigger more damaging spells and keeping a balance between both your white and black mana is the core of Red Mage. Following those guidelines will allow you to build up enough of both kinds of mana to use your burst damage combo.

Sage

FFXIV-Sage

Taking a healer into a FATE may seem like an even worse idea than playing a tank, but Sage is the new edition to Final Fantasy XIV and just like the healer tier list, it came to change a few things. While most healers don’t deal a lot of damage and have mostly heals and buffs, Sage works a little differently.

With Sage, you can heal and deal damage at the same time. This will help you make up for having low defensive stats by keeping yourself healed up the whole time. While other healers can easily keep themselves at full health during a FATE, they would have to sacrifice dealing damage to focus on healing.

However, Sage can mark a player and heal them for a percentage of damage done, you can apply the mark to yourself and heal yourself as you do damage. Sage also has some very damaging moves to use when compared to other healers.

If you do start to lose more health than you can heal back with your damage, you can just use some of your off-gcd healing skills to quickly get your health back up. With all of these little perks of Sage combined, you run into a very scary solo job. while you won’t hit as hard as a DPS you can keep yourself in the fight the whole time and slowly whittle down and FATE.

Paladin
Image: SquareEnix

Paladins have many aspects that are desirable to both new players and solo players. This versatile class assures that you will have some survivability, heals, and damage to handle most situations. This class has the privilege of being more than decent on all basic fronts. New players get to commit a few mistakes and rely on the Paladin’s defenses. Also, solo players can make sure to stay alive with self-healing abilities while being able to handle enemies with the Paladin’s good damage output.

This class is also pretty easy to master. It has a simple rotation and slowly introduces more complex elements, allowing players to learn the systems without getting overwhelmed by them. The Paladin might not have the most flashy abilities, and might not be the best healer in FFXIV, but it’s an efficient and reliable class.

Summoner

FFXIV-Summoner

Another DPS class for you to solo with if you want more of a focus on damage for your activities. Your main issue with playing this class for your solo activities is going to be the same issue you run into with any DPS class being played solo. Having enough sustain to finish a fight. Sometimes stellar damage just won’t cut it in Boss FATEs and you can’t manage to kill them before you die. However, much like Red Mage, Summoner has a bit more sustain than your average DPS.

Since Summoner and Scholar use the same base class, you have access to a basic cure and resurrection spell. While the resurrection spell won’t be of much use to a solo player, having a cure is a nice bonus over the minute cooldown melee DPS healing spell. The only downside is that you need to slow cast it and it is just a basic cure, so it won’t heal for a lot.

Summoner did also receive a rework with the recent expansion, so you should have a lot of new features to explore with the class. While it may not be one of the top damaging DPS classes at the moment. You should be able to clear any FATE or main scenario mission with a bit of focus.

You do need to keep in mind that this class is no tank and the heal is slow and basic. So you can’t just eat all of the damage a creature throws at you and expect to come out on top. Just make sure you avoid AOEs and if you notice a tank-buster-like move coming, be ready to heal after it. If you need any more help with Final Fantasy XIV make sure to check out our other guides.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Mac, and PC.

Skyrim: Best Armor & Weapon Codes https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/skyrim-best-armor-weapon-codes/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/skyrim-best-armor-weapon-codes/#respond Mon, 06 Nov 2023 18:49:20 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=836502 Unless you are playing through Skyrim as a magic user, your weapon and armor choices will make or break your playthrough. Let’s go over the best weapons and armor codes in Skyrim.

Codes for the Best Armor and Weapons in Skyrim

Just like your race in an MMO, the weapon and armor you pick in Skyrim can determine your playstyle and how difficult the game is. Trying to fight an endgame boss with a wooden sword can be quite the hard time. But using Chillrend on the same boss will let you have a much easier time.

Heavy Armor

Daedric Armor – 0001396D,0001396B,0001396A,0001396C Deadric Armor is the best armor you can get out of a full set, there are some helmets that you can wear that will give you a few more armor points over the Deadric Helmet but for a full armor set the Deadric is the best you will find. Ebony Mail – 00052794 While the Ebony Mail does not have as high of an armor stat as Daedric Armor it does have some interesting perks that make it worthwhile. For starters it comes with a built-in muffle enchant, which makes you silent when sneaking, thus canceling the negative effects of wearing heavy armor. The armor also features a unique aura ability that applies a five damage per second effect to anybody near you when you are in combat. This will apply to almost every NPC in the game.

Light Armor

Ancient Shrouded Armor – 000E1F15,000E1F17,000E1F16,000E1F14 All of the effects the armor set offers will outclass most other sets of armor in the game. Sneak damage, bow damage, poison resistance, and muffled steps are all given to you when you are wearing the full set. You can mix and match this set with the basic shrouded armor set to get exactly what you want and you don’t have to worry about messing up your look. Nightingale Armor – 000FCC0F,000FCC0D,000FCC11,000FCC12 Another really solid light armor set that provides a bunch of perks when worn. This set can be worn by any thief and even by some mages as it offers spell cost reduction. Wearing the full set will give you 40 extra stamina points, 50% frost resistance, the muffled effect, 25% easier lockpicking, 25% more damage on one-handed attacks, and a 17% cost reduction on illusion spells. While you may not get much of a benefit on the spell cost reduction if you are playing as a thief, it can be nice to have if you are multiclassing. Skyrim-Daedric-Armor

Daggers

Blade of Woe – 0009CCDC Featuring both high base damage and a decent enchantment, this is a solid dagger to use. The enchantment it has gives you a little bit of lifesteal in combat which can give you the edge in any tough fight. It does not have a lot of charges to use with its enchantment but if you wear some jewelry to decrease the charges used it can be quite useful. Mehrunes’ Razor -000240D2 This dagger does only one less damage than the Blade of Woe but its enchant’s usefulness is based on luck. Mehrunes’ Razor’s enchant has a 2% chance of activating each time it is swung. If the enchantment activates it will instantly kill whatever it hits, no matter what it is. Even bosses can install die if hit with this dagger. It works well as an offhand weapon as the damage is on the higher end of all daggers.

Maces

Mace of Molag Bal – 000233E3 This mace drains 25 points of the target’s stamina and magicka with each swing as well as casting soul trap on the target for 3 seconds. It also has the second most base damage for maces in the game. The mace is great for filling up soul gems and dealing with any trick mages that like to throw up a ward.

One-Handed Swords

Chillrend – 000F8318 With a chance to paralyze the target for two seconds with each swing and dealing 30 frost damage to health and stamina, this sword is a great option for any build. Paralysis can chain in Skyrim, so there is always a chance to chain paralyze your enemy and win the fight with ease. The extra health and stamina damage will also make any melee battle swing in your favor. Skyrim-Sword-and-Shield Nightingale Blade – 000F6527 Pairing nicely with the Nightingale armor set, this blade also has a special enchantment on it. Each swing from this sword will absorb 25 health and stamina points from your target, making it similar to the Blade of Woe but slightly better. Of course, a sword does not swing as fast as a dagger so it might be a bit slower at healing you but in a drawn-out fight, this sword does have more charges than the Blade of Woe.

Battleaxes

Tsun’s Battleaxe – 0005BF19 This battleaxe is only obtainable with console commands as it is an NPC-only weapon. The weapon doesn’t have any special enchantments but does have the most damage of all the battleaxes in the game.

Wuuthrad – 000956B5

This battleaxe is perfect for someone that really hates any of the elves in Skyrim as its special effect is to do more damage against any elf. This is not an enchantment so you can apply one of your own on top of the extra elf damage to make this quite the strong battleaxe.

Greatswords

Bloodskal Blade xx01aea4 (the first two digits can change depending on what mods you have installed) The interesting part of this greatsword is the energy blast that you can fire out of it. The blast will cover about 15 feet and can go through walls. The blast will be horizontal or vertical depending on how you swing the sword. The energy wave can also go through walls and hit multiple enemies at once, giving you a bit of a ranged option for your melee build.

Warhammers

Volendrung – 0002ACD2 The basic enchantment on this Warhammer allows you to absorb 50 stamina with each swing. This works well for a Warhammer build as you will want to mostly be power attacking with this weapon type. Skyrim-Warhammer Trollsbane – 0006AF63 this Warhammer has a custom fire enchantment on it that only affects trolls. However, you can upgrade this Warhammer the same way you would a normal steel Warhammer. This is a great hammer for the early game since that is when you will have the most trouble dealing with trolls.

Bows

Karliah’s Bow – 000DEED8 This bow is another NPC-only weapon, meaning you can only get this with the use of console commands. The main reason you will want to use this bow is that it has the highest base damage in the game of all bows. While other bows can get higher damage than Karliah’s Bow, without smithing them you won’t find a bow better than this. Nightingale Bow – 000F652C IF you are willing to upgrade a bow, then look no further than the Nightingale Bow. On top of decent damage, the enchantments on this bow add an extra 30 points of frost damage and 15 points of shock damage on top of your arrow damage. All around a solid bow for any archer build. Skyrim-Battleaxe

Shields

Dragonscale Shield – 00013941 For light armor, you can find no better shield in base Skyrim than this. this has the second highest armor rating of all the light shields in the game, being only .5 armor below the DLC shield. Stalhrim Shieldxx026237 (Depending on what mods you have installed the first two numbers can change) This is the best light armor shield in the game. If you apply the resist frost enchantment to this child it will be 25% more effective than any other shield with it applied to it. Daedric Shield – 0001396E This is the best heavy armor shield in the game. No other heavy armor shield can compare to the base armor stat of the Daedric shield.

How to Enter Codes for Skyrim

If you want to obtain all the excellent armor and weapon pieces mentioned, you must know how to input the codes. These codes are essentially cheats, and to enter them, you need to use the Command Center for the game. To access the PC Commands Console, hit the tilde (~) key. Next, input the code of the weapon or armor piece you wish to have and then hit enter. If you aren’t familiar with the location of the tilde key, know that it is usually located above the tab key on the keyboard. Unfortunately, if you are playing Skyrim on Xbox or PlayStation, these codes are unavailable as there is no way to enter them on the console version. For niche builds there may be some armor or weapons that work better than these listed. But for most players, these weapons and armors will work well for them. If you need any more help with Skyrim make sure to check out our other guides.

Elden Ring: How to Solve Regression Alone Reveals Secrets Puzzle https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/elden-ring-how-to-solve-regression-alone-reveals-secrets-puzzle/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/elden-ring-how-to-solve-regression-alone-reveals-secrets-puzzle/#respond Fri, 04 Aug 2023 19:35:53 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=831586 Reading every message you come across in Elden Ring is never a bad idea. While some messages may be lying to you, most of the ones you come across that provide hints are truthful. Some messages in the game are actually put in Elden Ring by From Software and provide hints toward secrets. One such message can be found in the Royal Capital Leyndell. After you manage to defeat Godfrey, you will come to a statue with its arms spread and below it, you will find a message that reads “Regression alone reveals secrets”. Here’s how to solve the Regression Alone Reveals Secrets puzzle in Elden Ring.

How to Solve the Regression Alone Reveals Secrets Puzzle

Elden Ring really enjoys giving their players open-ended puzzles. Just like in Chelona’s Rise, you are given a single line to work with and nothing else. It can be quite difficult to figure out what you need to do when all you are told is “Regression alone reveals secrets”. Is it telling you that you need to go back alone or maybe you need to do the opposite, so go forward with someone? Luckily the answer is quite simple. If you’re not an Incantation user, you may have a bit of trouble solving the puzzle. Placidusaxs-Ruin-Elden-Ring In order to reveal the secret, you will need to use the Law of Regression Incantation. If you don’t have it you can pick it up from any Incantation vendor that you give the Golden Order Principia prayerbook to. Once you have the incantation, you will need 37 Intelligence to equip and use it. If you don’t have the Intelligence, you will either need to respec at Rennala in the Grand Library or level up until you get 37 Intelligence. With the Law of Regression Incantation equipped, you will need to go back to the statue and simply cast the Incantation in front of it. The reward you will get for solving this riddle is a huge lore revelation. If you were looking for some super-powerful weapon or spell, you will be disappointed. However, if you want to know more about the story of Elden Ring as you play along then you can’t miss this.

How to Get the Golden Order Principia Prayerbook for the Law of Regression Incantion

ELDEN-RING™_20230804151749 Players must acquire the Golden Order Principia prayerbook to get the Law of Regression Incantation. Players can find this book by fast-traveling to the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace and reaching the top level. Once at the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace, go outside to the right of the Site of Grace and walk up the large tree root to get to the balcony. Once your on the balcony, head outside the door and immediately take a left and jump onto the roof of the building. Here you will find an open window, jump through this window, and you’ll find another giant tree root. Walk across this tree root to find the Golden Order Principia Prayerbook on the hanging chair. ELDEN-RING™_20230804152057 While you’re up here, you can also obtain the Erdtree Bow on the balcony directly across the hanging chair! Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Healer Tier List: The Best Healers in Patch 6.4 https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-final-fantasy-xiv-healers-tier-list/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-final-fantasy-xiv-healers-tier-list/#respond Thu, 13 Jul 2023 20:44:00 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=840888 Healers are a tricky thing to pick in Final Fantasy XIV. Despite only four options in the game, each one is vastly different from the others in how they heal, and sadly, not all healers are equal. While every healer can get a party through to the end of a dungeon when it comes to the highest tier of play, some healers are preferred over others. Since you need to level up each job separately in Final Fantasy XIV, no one wants to waste their time leveling up a healer in Final Fantasy XIV just to have to turn around and level a different one. Let’s go over the healer tier list for Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV Healer Tier List

When it comes to ranking healers it’s a little bit harder than ranking tanks. You have to divide healers into two categories, shield healers and regen healers. Both of these types of healers are useable no matter the content but the way they provide their healing is so vastly different that it isn’t comparable. Luckily there is an even split between shield and regen healers so all the classes have something to be compared to.

Let’s go over the shield healers first.

S Tier – Sage

FFXIV-Sage
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Sage is the newest healer to be added to the game and it came to play. While it is one of the more complex classes to heal with, once you get the hang of it you are one of the strongest healers in the game. Not only do you bring shield healing to the table, but you also have a little bit of regen healing and the ability to heal while you deal damage. You can also pick a target to provide more benefits to as you fight.

One of the best parts of Sage is the ability to mark a tank with Kardia and have them restore health with each attack you cast. All of your abilities have a cure potency listed under them, which will be used to heal whoever you mark with Kardia. You can boost the amount of health that they heal from Kardia by using Soteria, it boosts the potency of the next four Kardia heals by 70%.

That isn’t your main healing, your main form of healing comes from using your Addersgail Guage or by using Eukrasia to turn your slow cast heals into quick cast heals that shield. This is where you complexity of the class comes in because if you can’t properly combine these abilities together well you are going to have a hard time keeping your tank and DPS alive. You’ll find yourself with no charges of Assersgail and have to slow-cast heals in hopes that they stay alive.

However, if you can properly manage all of your resources, then Sage is a healer that any party will want to have. You can do damage and heal at the same time, while other classes of healers will have to choose between one or the other. That’s what makes Sage the S Tier shielding healer. If you combine a Sage with a tank that can mitigate enough damage in a dungeon, the Sage can do damage the whole time and let the tank passively heal from the attacks Sage does.

A Tier – Scholar

FFXIV-Scholar
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Scholar has been around for a long time and just like White Mage, they are a staple class. They do a solid job of healing but that’s about it. Scholar does have a bit more freedom when it comes to healing since they have a summon that can help them with healing, so they can focus a bit more on doing damage. But it is nowhere near as much as Sage can do. However, they do have a larger amount of burst healing and shield compared to Sage.

For Scholar, your healing is focused around your fairy. Having it summoned will allow it to randomly cast Embrace which heals the lowest health ally around it. You can order the fairy to cast Whispering Dawn to heal in an AOE or Fey Illumination to reduce damage and increase the amount of healing allies receive. By filling up the Faerie Gauge you can order the fairy to provide a stream of healing to your target.

Your burst healing comes in two forms, either using Summon Seraph or using Atherflow Charges. Your Atherflow abilities are normal instant cast heals or shields that will consume one of your three Atherflow charges for each use. You can gain back charges back by using Atherflow or Dissipation. While Atherflow will just give you back all your charges and some mana, Dissipation does a bit more. It will order your fairy to leave which blocks you from using Summon Seraph until you’re fairy returns.

The other big burst healing is from using Summon Seraph, which will upgrade the heal that your fairy does passively and allows you to use upgraded versions on Fey Illumination and Whispering Dawn. You also gain the ability to use Consolation which is a heal and a shield in one. While that is a lot of burst healing from Scholar, it’s not something you want all the time in a raid or dungeon.

Burst healing is a nice safety net to have in case someone makes a mistake and you need to heal everyone to prevent a wipe. However, that is really what Scholar is, which is why it’s not ranked higher on the list. It’s still a solid class to have one of in a raid, that way you can make more progress on a boss before you end up fully wiping, but you can also live without one since both healers in the raid will have some sort of burst healing themselves.

Those are the two shield healers, now let’s look at the regen healers

S Tier – Astrologian

FFXIV-Astrologian
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

While White Mage may be able to deal out more pure healing than Astrologian, it can’t help with damage more than Astrologian can. Astrologian feels like more of a support rather than a pure healer, the same way the Sage feels more like a DPS than a pure healer. You will find yourself focusing more on dealing out cards than healing. Since it received a rework, it has had a lot of the previous problems of having useless cards addressed.

Healing for Astrologian is a fairly standard task, you have some Benefic and Benefic II for your single target healing, and you can apply regen and heal by using Aspected Benefic. You have a larger single target instant heal for saving someone from death and an instant cast shield heal. You also have AOE versions of almost all of your single target heals. You can use Collective Unconscious to make a dome that reduces damage and heals anyone inside it, just be careful since you can’t do anything while you channel it.

You can also speed up your casting of any spell using Lightspeed, which can also be useful for reviving a few allies at once if Swiftcast is down. You can also use Synastry to provide a percentage of healing done to other allies back to them, which a great for keeping a tank in the fight while you heal the DPS.

While Astrologian doesn’t stand out in the healing department, it’s the card system that makes the class so useful to have. By using Draw you can draw a tarot card from your deck, which can then be applied to either a tank or melee DPS, or a ranged DPS/healer depending on the card drawn. By using the card on your allies you will gain the symbol shown on the top of the card. You can hold up to three of these symbols at a time and if you try to hold more than three the oldest symbol will be replaced.

You will want to have three different symbols held before you cast Astrodyne, while you can cast it with duplicate symbols you get better effects for each different symbol you have. For one symbol type, you will get mana restoration over time, two symbol types will give you mana restoration and quicker spell cast/auto-attack times, and having all three symbols will give you all the previous effects as well as increase your damage and healing potency by 5%.

While these effects don’t apply to party members, they are still a nice bonus to yourself and give you a reason to keep what cards you are playing in mind. You can redraw a card once before you either need to play it or throw it away. However, the real reason you want an Astrologian around is for the damage bonus provided by the cards for your party and the party-wide damage bonus you can apply with Divination. Combine all of that with having decent heals and it is easy to see why Astrologian is the best regen healer.

A Tier – White Mage

FFXIV-White-Mage
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

White Mage is a staple class in the Final Fantasy series and it does exactly what you would expect it to do in Final Fantasy XIV, it heals and heals and heals. It has revived a few reworks during the expansions and is in an alright spot at the moment. If you are looking for the class with the best pure healing output then look no further than the White Mage. This class can heal up a whole party of one HP tanks in no time flat.

Having three different single target heals in the form of Cure, Cure II, and Cure III you will know the second you see this class what you are all about. For AOE healing you will be relying on Medica and Medica II while having Assize to AOE and restore your mana. Since the class is a regen healer, you will need some regen in there. While Astrologian applies their regen with a heal, White Mage applies it by using Regen. Even when it comes to the instant cast large heals, White Mage has the largest. With Divine Benison fully healing the target no matter their health.

While the Astrologian class gauge is used for buffing your team’s damage, White Mage is all about using bigger heals. During combat, the White Mage will gain White Lilies which can be spent on Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture, which is a single target and AOE heal respectively. However, when the AOE heal is used, you will fill up the Blood Lilly, once this is full you can be used to cast Afflatus Misery which deals a large amount of AOE damage.

You can use Liturgy of the Bell to heal you and your allies anytime you take damage. Combine any of your healing moves with Aquaveil or Temperance to boost the amount of healing you do. But therein lies the problem that Scholar suffers from as well. While healing is great to have in a party and all if you want a more supportive healer, why would you take a class that can heal well beyond what you need, when you could take a class that heals the right amount and buffs your damage.

White Mage has no way to support a party outside of pure healing and a little bit of shielding. Sure it has some damaging moves, but taking time away from healing to run in and do an AOE does more harm than it does good. Maybe in the next expansion, we can see Scholar and White Mage get some more buffing abilities and give Astrologian and Sage a run for their money, but until then it’s gonna be hard to compete. The Best Food for Every Job in Final Fantasy XIV https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/the-best-food-for-every-job-in-final-fantasy-xiv/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/the-best-food-for-every-job-in-final-fantasy-xiv/#respond Mon, 10 Jul 2023 17:29:36 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=842804 Final Fantasy XIV has three main job classes but then numerous sub-jobs underneath those, however when choosing food for jobs you should focus on eating food that benefits the main job. With the array of food to be found and cooked throughout the game, you may find yourself (like me at first) wondering which to go for. This article will take you through the best food for every job in Final Fantasy XIV.

Best Final Fantasy XIV Food for Every Job

Best Food For Tanks in Final Fantasy XIV

You will want to focus on increasing your Vitality and Tenacity for tank jobs. Having more Vitality will increase your max health, while increased Tenacity leads to an increase in your defenses. Having both of these stats increased is pivotal for a tank since their whole job is staying alive through any dungeon or raid.

Related: The Beauty of a Positive Community — An Analysis Through the Lens of Final Fantasy XIV

Since food items provide three stats you can pick up Determination as your third stat on food. This will boost the amount of damage that you do which can help with clearing difficult content. With this in mind, the best food for tanks will be Scallop Salad or Scallop Curry.

FFXIV-Best-Tank-Foods
Image: Attack of the Fanboy
  • Scallop Salad – Tenacity +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Determination +8% (Max 43)
  • Scallop Curry – Determination +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Tenacity +8% (Max 43)

Which food you pick comes down to if you want more damage or higher defense.

Best Healer Foods in Final Fantasy XIV

When it comes to healer jobs in Final Fantasy XIV, you have a few options to pick from. Vitality is something you should always pick since it increases your total health and allows you to live longer. After that, you can choose between Spell Speed to cast heals quicker, Piety to increase the amount you heal for, or Critical Hit to increase your critical hit chance and how much it improves your damage or healing.

This makes the best food for healers to eat be Thavnairian Chai, Peach Tart, and Peach Juice.

  • Thavnairian Chai – Critical Hit +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Spell Speed +8% (Max 43)
  • Peach Tart – Spell Speed +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Piety +8% (Max 43)
  • Peach Juice – Piety +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Determination +8% (Max 43)

Related: How to Get Rubellux Weapons in FFXIV, Explained

You’re left with a choice when it comes to healer food, you can either go for increasing your spell speed and bank on critical heals, or increase your spell speed and increase your heals by a set amount. But if you feel like your spell speed is just fine or don’t need to worry about spell speed as Sage does, you could go for extra damage which benefits Sage as well. This is what puts Sage at the top of the healer tier list.

Best Food For DPS in Final Fantasy XIV

There are a few options for DPS jobs that you can pick from depending on what kind of DPS you are. If you are a magical DPS then you will want to go for Spell Speed and Direct Hit Rate. You could trade out the direct hit rate for Critical Hit if that is more your style.

The food you will be looking to pick up is Thanvnairian Chai or Sykon Cookies. While Thanvnairian Chai was on the list of food for healers, you can also be used by Magical DPS as it offers spell speed and an increase in damage.

FFXIV-Best-DPS-Foods

  • Thavnairian Chai – Critical Hit +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Spell Speed +8% (Max 43)
  • Sykon Cookies – Spell Speed +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Direct Hit Rate +8% (Max 43)

These foods won’t work well for your physical DPS, for those jobs, you will want to focus on Skill Speed over spells speed. You will still want to use food that focuses on Direct Hit, Critical Hit, and Determination since all of that helps to boost damage.

Related: Final Fantasy XIV – Diadem Fishing Guide

This leaves your best food options to be Pumpkin Potage and Pumpkin Ratatouille which is tragically not made by a real rat. your choice will come down to if you want more Skill Speed or if you want more Determination.

  • Pumpkin Potage -Determination +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Critical Hit +8% (Max 43)
  • Pumpkin Ratatouille – Critical Hit +8% (Max 72), Vitality +8% (Max 74), Skill Speed +8% (Max 43)

Now that you know all of the best food for each core Final Fantasy XIV job you can navigate dungeons, raids, and more all with extra bonuses because of the dishes. Keeping a great standard of food consumption in the game is essential for those who want to be in their tip-top shape in any enemy encounter.

Is Volcanoids Multiplayer? Explained https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/is-volcanoids-multiplayer-explained/ Thu, 16 Mar 2023 18:41:32 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=910040 Nothing can make getting through a survival game like Volcanoids easier than being able to play with friends. Having an extra set of hands to gather materials and build up your train is the best way to ensure your survival from the volcano threatening the island. Let’s go over if Volcanoids is multiplayer and how to set up a multiplayer game.

Does Volcanoids Have Multiplayer?

Like many other survival games, Volcanoids does allow you to weather the storm of the volcano with friends. Just make sure to bring a close friend along for the ride as it can get quite cramped underground.

Related: Is Sons of the Forest Multiplayer?

You can bring up to three of your friends along with you for your adventure. But you might want to progress a bit in the game first as there will only be Drillship present in the game at a time. Everyone will need to pile into one ship and it is quite small starting out.

How To Invite Friends In Volcanoids

Inviting friends into your Volcanoids game is quite simple as the game features drop-in co-op. Simply load up your single-player world and then invite your friends through the pause menu or the Steam overlay.

While you can normally only have four players in a single world at a time, you can have more if you do some file editing. However, the game will become a bit unstable if you go past the four-person limit.

It should also be noted that the world save is only for the host of the world. So make sure the person hosting the game will always be the host if you don’t want to lose any progress.

Going back to your own world after joining someone else’s will leave you with the basic starter Drillship no matter how far you get. You won’t even be able to bring any items back with you to get a headstart.

Perhaps some future updates for the game will allow you to join a friend’s world with a save of your own so you can make progress with them at the same time. Then when you go back to your own world, your upgrade and items will come with you.

Although you can’t bring your progress back to your world with you, it will still remain in your friend’s save of the game. So rejoining at a later date will have you spawning back in with your full inventory and any upgrades you had prior.

Star Citizen Release Date https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/star-citizen-release-date/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/star-citizen-release-date/#respond Thu, 16 Mar 2023 10:17:16 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=909855 Star Citizen is a game with huge promises that many gamers are excited to see delivered upon. However, the current state of the game is nowhere near the promised version and it leads many to want to wait for the full release. Let’s go over the expected release date of Star Citizen.

Star Citizen Full Release Date

Since the current version of Star Citizen available to play is considered to be an alpha version of the game, there are plenty of bugs that cause many players to stay away and wait for the full release. However, there is no easily accessible release date for the game to be found.

Related: How to Fix Star Citizen Error Code 30009

This is because the full release of Star Citizen is still more than a few years out. Many fans estimate that the game is around 50% of the way done. This is concluded by comparing the features promised by the developers and what is currently available in the alpha version.

So if you were holding out hope that the release of Star Citizen is right around the corner, you are going to be holding out a lot longer. The game just recently released the 3.18 patch for the alpha and the next big path is set to come out sometime in Q4 of 2023 or Q1 of 2024.

This should give you a good idea of the slow development of the game. However, the slow development does mean that what does come out will be nicely polished.

Many of the features included in the game have a lot of detail and work quite nicely, after all the bugs are ironed out. Even the prison system in the game offers various methods to get out of prison.

If all of the features that the developers want to add to the game are planned to be as polished as possible, it will defiantly be a while before we see version 1.0 of the full game.

You should expect to see Squadron 42, which is the single-player adventure for Star Citizen, to come out way before the full release of Star Citizen. Many fans estimate Squadron 42 to be almost 70% done with the actual percentage possibly being much higher.

If Star Citizen does look interesting to you in any way, you should go ahead and give it a try now. If you wait around for the full release of the game, you might forget about it and never come back.

Even if you do buy into the game and don’t like it at the moment, you will still have access to the game upon release with whichever ship you picked available to you at that time. Just be wary as you can no longer receive a refund on any pledges made to the game.

How to Get Out of Prison in Star Citizen https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-out-of-prison-in-star-citizen/ Thu, 16 Mar 2023 09:44:21 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=909846 Star Citizen’s punishments for being a criminal can be quite severe. Dying with any sort of crime stat will land you right into the loving arms of the Klescher Rehabilitation Facility otherwise known as prison. Once in prison, you will need to either serve your time or find some way to escape. Let’s go over the different ways you can get out of prison in Star Citizen.

How to Leave Klescher Rehabilitation Facility in Star Citizen

Players have been having such a hard time getting into the game since the release of the newest patch and no one wants to waste their time stuck in prison. While waiting out your sentence is always an option, there are a few ways to speed up your time or skip it entirely.

Related: How to Fix Star Citizen Error Code 19004

Doing Work to Reduce Your Sentence

In order to even get out of your cell in Klescher, you have to enroll in the work program the facility offers. Doing this will give you a multitool and a mining head attachment to allow you to go work down in the mines. The entrance to these mines can be found opposite of inmate processing.

Star-Citizen-Prison-Work-Mines
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

The mines are quite spiraling, offering a couple of different paths to go down and 12 levels for each path. As you walk along a path, keep your eye out for any minerals sticking out of the ground to mine and collect.

Each gem you hand in will reduce your sentence by a set amount and also give you some points to spend in the prison store if you have a longer stay than you expected.

You can also receive a contract from Klescher while down in the mines to go and repair the various oxygen dispensers. Completing one of these can be quite valuable as the deeper the dispenser is the more you get paid and the more time comes off your sentence.

Break Out of Prison

If you want to take the immediate escape route out of the prison you can choose to break out. This is a dangerous option as you will still be wanted even if you do manage to break out. There is a personal contract you can get if you wait around a few minutes that will clear your crime stat if you bring a data drive out of prison with you and deliver it.

Once you have made up your mind about breaking out, you will want to go toward the work mines and take a peek inside the guard booth by the entrance. Inside you should be able to spy a four-digit code that can be used to turn off the fans in the cell block.

Look around the walls of the cell block for a vent that is missing a grate and jump toward it. Input the code on the panel for the vent and climb on through.

Star-Citizen-Escape-Path
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

This is the point of no return, if you choose to continue your escape your crime stat will increase and your sentence will be extended. Dying at any point will land you right back in the prison as well, so be very careful.

Follow the tunnel system toward the surface, there is a bit of parkour along the way that you will need to complete without falling.

Further down the tunnel system, you should come back into the facility at a higher level. Look around this area for two codes for APC vehicles as you will need them later. Note down the codes provided and keep making your way out of the facility.

Once you reach the surface all hell will break loose. Find the nearby APC storage containers outside the facility and use the APC to drive as far away as possible. This is the point that you will need to find someone trustworthy to come and pick you up as you can’t go to any station to get a ship.

Hopefully, you have a friend that has managed to get past the 30009 error code and can come to pick you up. After you are picked up, book it to either turn in that data drive to lose your crime stat or to a security post to hack away your crime stat.

Either way, act fast as any bounty hunter will be sure to be on your trail soon. After you get rid of your crime stat, you are free to resume doing whatever you want in the system.

Wait Out Your Sentence

If you don’t want to take the risk of breaking out and extending your time in prison, you can always choose to just log out and come back after your sentence is up.

The timer for your prison sentence is shown in real-time and will count down even if you are not logged into the game. So if you happen to get a 5-hour prison sentence, you can just go to sleep and come back tomorrow a free man.

You will still need to leave the facility once you log back in if you do choose to wait it out. However, that is done by just taking an elevator ride to the surface and being teleported to Everus Harbor with a fresh flight suit on.

Regardless of how you get out of prison, you will hopefully be a changed person and not commit any more crimes to land yourself back in the slammer. But if you do, you can always use any of these methods to get yourself back out and repeat the cycle over and over.

Best in Slot Gear for Restoration Shaman in WoW Dragonflight https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-in-slot-gear-for-restoration-shaman-in-wow-dragonflight/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-in-slot-gear-for-restoration-shaman-in-wow-dragonflight/#respond Wed, 15 Mar 2023 08:00:09 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=909605 When it comes to making your class as strong as possible in World of Warcraft, there are a few things you can do. You will always want to follow the trend of meta talents and builds but those are rendered powerless if you don’t have the right gear equipped. A healer, for example, can’t do anything if they have the wrong gear on. Let’s go over the best gear you can wear for Restoration Shaman in World of Warcraft.

Best Gear to Wear for Restoration Shaman in WoW Dragonflight

If you are looking for the best gear possible for your Shaman, then you should hit up the Vault of the Incarnates raid for the Shaman set.

Related: WoW Vault of the Incarnates DPS Tier List

This set is some of the best armor you can get for Shaman since it features the stat lineup you want to use and some special set bonuses specifically for the Shaman class.

Wearing two pieces of the set will increase your critical strike chance by 10% while your Healing Stream Totem or your Cloudburst Totem is active. If you managed to wear four pieces of the set at once you will also increase your critical strike effectiveness from 200% to 215%.

For your trinkets, both the Broodkeeper’s Promise and the Whispering Incarnate Icon from the Vault of the Incarnates raid are some of the best. You can also use the Alacritous Alchemist Stone from the Alchemy profession if you are unable to get the raid trinkets.

Best Stats to Focus on For Shaman in WoW Dragonflight

If you can’t manage to get your hands on a set of Shaman raid gear, the next best gear you can get will vary depending on the gear’s stats. For shamans in particular, go for gear that has high Versatility and Mastery.

If you are unable to get those stats, you can also look into getting high Critical Strike and Haste. These are secondary stats for your healing but still can be quite effective.

Always wear the highest item level gear, regardless of the stats. Beyond that, you will want to look for Versatility and Critical Strike over any other stat. One of these stats will also pair with Haste and Mastery which are interchangeable depending on the content you are running.

No matter what gear you settle on, just make sure that it has Intellect as the primary stat since that is what Shaman benefits from the most. The same can also be said for Mage gear, although the minor stats you want for that gear will vary.

Best Stasis Warlock Build in Destiny 2 Lightfall https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-stasis-warlock-build-in-destiny-2-lightfall/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-stasis-warlock-build-in-destiny-2-lightfall/#respond Fri, 10 Mar 2023 12:00:00 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=908378 Getting the best Stasis Warlock build in Destiny 2 is all about harnessing the original power of the darkness to freeze enemies in place and set up easy kills for the rest of your fireteam. While other Warlocks will be playing around with the new Strand abilities, you can be perfecting your craft with the first taste of Darkness that Destiny 2 had to offer with this Stasis Build.

All Aspects and Fragments for the Best Stasis Warlock Build in Destiny 2 Lightfall

  • Stasis Warlock Aspects
    • Iceflare Bolts: Shattering a frozen target spawns seekers that track and freeze other nearby targets.
    • Glacial Harvest: Freezing targets creates stasis shards around frozen targets. Higher-tier combatants create more shards.
  • Stasis Warlock Fragments
    • Whisper of Conduction: Nearby stasis shards track to your position. +10 Resilience, +10 Intellect
    • Whisper of Rime: Collecting a stasis shard grants a small amount of overshield, which falls off after 10 seconds. Collecting additional shards adds to the overshield and refreshes the timer.
    • Whisper of Fissures: Increases the damage and size of the burst of stasis when you destroy a Stasis crystal or defeat a frozen target.
    • Whisper of Refraction: Defeating slowed or frozen targets grants you class ability energy.

The main point of these aspects and fragments revolves around picking up the shards that spawn when you freeze an enemy, then shattering the enemy to kill them and freeze another enemy. Each shard you pick up will give you overshield and melee energy, and you get class energy back when you shatter the enemy you freeze.

Related: All Destiny 2 Subclass Keywords, Explained: Solar, Void, Arc, Stasis, and Strand

Iceflare Bolts will allow you to keep chain-freezing enemies after you shatter the previous one. Allowing for some great ad control in any situation.

Glacial Harvest is key because it is what generates all of your stasis crystals with this build. It does have a 10-second cooldown before it will generate more crystals, meaning that not every enemy you freeze in a chain will create crystals. But it still makes enough for the build to work.

Whisper of Conduction is great for getting stasis crystals to you for the overshield without the need to leave your cover.

Whisper of Rime is another nice aspect to have on any stasis build, especially for hunters, since it gives you an overshield for picking up crystals. You will be making a bunch of crystals with this build, so you might as well benefit from them as much as possible.

Whisper of Fissures increases the size and damage of the AOE when you shatter a target. This allows you to clear out a pack of ads by freezing one of them and shattering them.

Finally, Whisper of Refraction gives you class ability energy anytime you kill a stasis-affected target. Since stasis crystals give you back melee energy and your exotic will give you grenade energy back, you only have to worry about getting your class ability back.

Best Stasis Warlock Abilities, Explained

  • Stasis Super: Winter’s Wrath
  • Stasis Movement: Burst Glide
  • Stasis Class Ability: Healing Rift
  • Stasis Melee: Penumbral Blast
  • Stasis Grenade: Coldsnap Grenade

While Stasis Warlock has no other super and melee options, you will want to use the Coldsnap grenade to synergize with the armor exotic you want to wear. If you wear a different exotic, you can choose a different grenade as long as it can freeze enemies with ease.

For your movement and class ability, it comes down to personal preference. The most popular choices are burst glide for your movement since it is the fastest movement ability for Warlock and healing rift since it is normally more useful than empowering rift.

Best Stasis Warlock Exotics and Mods

  • Exotics
    • Cryosthesia 77K
    • Osmiomancy Gloves
  • Mods
    • Harmonic Siphon
    • Radiant Light
    • Font of Vigor
    • Bolstering Detonation
    • Fastball
    • Charged Up
    • Recuperation
    • Absolution
    • Bomber
    • Time Dilation
    • Reaper

The main crux of this build is the Osmiomancy Gloves exotic. These gloves allow your Coldsnap grenades to have a second charge, have better tracking, and recharge fully upon direct hit with a target. This is what holds the build together

Your coldsnap grenades will freeze most of your targets and as long as you hit a target directly with the grenade you should always have one up.

Cryostheisa 77K is used just in case you happen to miss your grenade and need an emergency freeze on command to keep the rest of the build going.

Harmonic siphon allows any kills you make to generate orbs of power, this allows you to get the armor charge system going.

Since you will be casting your super a lot with high intellect, you can give your allies some armor charge with Radiant Light

Font of Vigor will allow you to regenerate your melee even faster if you have an armor charge. Although you might not notice the bonus stats too often, it is still nice to have.

Bolstering Detonation will give you class energy back each time you deal damage with your grenade. Just in case Whispers of Refraction didn’t keep your class ability up enough.

Fastball will help you hit long shots with your coldsnap grenades. They do have a bit of tracking with the throw but even you have a limited throw range.

Both Recuperation and Absolution reward you with a bit of healing and class ability energy each time you pick up an orb of power.

Bomber will give you grenade energy when using your class ability, in case the game doesn’t give you a grenade back.

Time Dilation allows Font of Vigor to be active for 15 seconds instead of 10 and Reaper allows you to generate an orb of power by getting a kill after using your class ability.

With this build, you should be well set up for clearing the Lightfall campaign on legendary and getting the sweet rewards it has to offer.

What is Dalamud for FFXIV and How to Use it https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/what-is-dalamud-for-ffxiv-and-how-to-use-it/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/what-is-dalamud-for-ffxiv-and-how-to-use-it/#respond Thu, 09 Mar 2023 05:29:30 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=907921 Although Final Fantasy XIV offers plenty of little quality-of-life features that players enjoy, there are still a few features that players are always asking for. This is where the community comes in with Dalamud, the framework for plugins to use. Let’s go over what Dalamund is and if it is safe to install as well as how to use it in Final Fantasy XIV.

What is Dalamud for Final Fantasy XIV

While veterans of the Final Fantasy XIV franchise might recognize the name Dalamud as a location in the game, that is not what this current iteration of Dalamud we are talking about. The Dalamud most people are talking about right now is a piece of framework software that is used with a custom Final Fantasy XIV launcher to allow custom plugins.

Related: How to Uninstall FFXIV Gshade to Remove Malware

What is a Framework

Unless you are into coding and creating software, you might not know what a framework is. To explain it simply, a framework is an application that can read the decrypted data that Final Fantasy XIV creates and convert it into easily readable data for other plugins to use.

This is why many current plugins for Final Fantasy XIV require Dalamud to work. Many plugins will be designed to simply read the data Dalamud will put out instead of creating a framework from scratch for the plugin to use.

How to Install Dalamud for Final Fantasy XIV

Getting Dalamud installed isn’t too hard but you won’t be searching specifically for Dalamud to get it. You will want to look at getting a custom launcher for Final Fantasy XIV instead. many of the custom launchers for plugins come with Dalamud included so you don’t have to get it separately.

Just be a bit careful when you are dealing with a third-party launcher for Final Fantasy XIV as those do come with a bit of risk. Since they are not verified by Square Enix, you do run the risk of a shady one stealing your account.

How to Find a Safe Launcher to Use

Try asking around the Final Fantasy XIV community to see what launchers they use and take their recommendations. If multiple people all use the same launcher it is most likely safe to use.

People in the community may also go out of their way to help you find some useful plugins to get as well since many people in the community love to be helpful to newer players or veterans alike.

What Plugins You Should Get

Once you have a launcher installed and verified that it is working right, you can start to hunt down some plugins to use. Most raiders and dungeon players tend to get DPS trackers to keep track of where they stand in the party. Crafters and gatherers have plenty of plugins to aid in their trades as well.

As long as you stick to plugins that don’t alter the game files you shouldn’t have to worry about being punished in any way. Even if you do use a few texture modifications like many do, as long as you don’t use it for cheating you should be fine.

Let’s go over how you can get your own copy of the Round Robin in Destiny 2.

Where to Farm The Round Robin Hand Cannon in Destiny 2

One of the last steps many players are facing when completing their Strand build is finding the right weapon to slot in. Luckily the Round Robin Hand Cannon is here to save the day, offering a solid perk pool and being a strand weapon.

Related: How to Get the Vexcalibur Exotic Glaive in Destiny 2

However, farming this weapon does take a little bit of effort. It is not a world drop, so you don’t need to spend an infinite amount of time hoping that rng is in your favor. But you will have to do some specific activities to get it.

Best Way to Farm the Round Robin

The best method to farm for the Round Robin hand cannon is to do Terminal Overload events across Neomuna. Each time you complete an event and open a chest with a Terminal Overload key, you have a chance to get the hand cannon.

Destiny-2-Round-Robin-Farm-Terminal-Overload
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Pay attention to which Nemuna weapon you are getting for the day because Terminal overload operates off of a rotating system. Every day, a different Neomuna weapon is picked and will drop more commonly from the event.

Alternative Round Robin Farming Methods

Another way to farm it is to open Neomuna engrams from Nimbus until you get what you want. The Round Robin comes from the Neomuna weapon pool that is linked to the Neomuna destination and the Neomuna engrams.

This is a passive method though, so you can focus on farming Terminal Overload for Neomuna rank and then go back to Nimbus to claim the engrams at any point.

Complete the Weekly Campaign Mission

You can also have the Neomuna weapons drop by playing the weekly campaign mission. This can also give you some pinnacle gear so you can work on increasing your light level while farming for a god roll.

If you are on the fence about getting a Round Robin, you could consider farming for a Perpetualis instead. It is a strand auto rifle that comes from the current season so it has some very different perks that you might be able to make more use of.

The Finals Closed Beta: How to Sign Up and Start Time https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/the-finals-closed-beta-how-to-sign-up-and-start-time/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/the-finals-closed-beta-how-to-sign-up-and-start-time/#respond Mon, 06 Mar 2023 20:27:46 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=906854 The Finals is an upcoming FPS game focused on environmental destruction which has kept it on many gamers’ radars. This level of destruction is something that hasn’t been seen in recent games that many gamers have been searching for. Luckily The Finals is hosting a closed beta that you can participate in to give the game a shot for yourself. Let’s go over how you can sign up for The Finals closed beta and when it begins.

How to Sign Up for The Finals Closed Beta

Signing up for access to The Finals closed beta is quite simple. You will need to either head to their website or the Steam page for The Finals and sign up there. Going to the main website to sign up will just end up taking you to the Steam store page, so you can save a bit of time by going right to Steam.

If you already signed up for the previous close alpha tests for The Finals, you shouldn’t need to sign up again and you may already have access to this closed beta test.

If you are unsure if you are already in or not, simply go to the Steam page and check if you can download the playtest. You can also search for The Finals in your Steam library and see if it is already there for you to download.

Once you have signed up, keep an eye on either your Steam library for the game to show up or your email to receive confirmation for being accepted. The current number of players being allowed in this time around is unknown and they may add in more after the closed beta goes live.

When Does the Closed Beta for The Finals Start

Currently, there is no confirmed start time for the Closed Beta servers. When a time does become confirmed, it will be announced in the official Discord server for The Finals. So if you are already accepted for the playtest, you may want to join their Discord.

You don’t need to worry about being late to the start of the playtest as it will run for two weeks, so you will have until March 21 to play around with the game. During this time, you will be able to experience a bit of the progressions system as well as the cosmetic unlock system as both of these were absent from previous playtests.

This seems like the best look at the game players will be able to experience until the full release of The Finals or the next beta test. They don’t have a date set for the game yet, so there will most likely be another closed or open beta test sometime in the future to look forward to.

How to Unlock All Vera Elements in Scars Above https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-unlock-all-vera-elements-in-scars-above/ Sat, 04 Mar 2023 10:55:30 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=906080 Since Scars Above is so focused on ranged combat, players will want to unlock all of the elemental types for their weapon as soon s possible. However, this can be a bit confusing and you might end up worrying you missed a weapon attachment when you start finding ammo for it. Let’s go over how to unlock all of the elemental weapons in Scars Above.

Where to Find Each Elemental Weapon Attachment in Scars Above

There are four total elemental weapon types in Scars Above. Electricity, Fire, Ice, and Corrosive are the four kinds of elements that you will be able to wield. Luckily, since the game is quite linear, you can’t really miss finding any of these attachments.

Where to Get The Electricity Weapon Attachment

Electricity is the first element that you will be able to wield in Scars Above. This will come stock when you first get your hands on your gun.

Scars-Above-Electrical-Weapon
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

As such you don’t need to do anything special for this, just finding the Vera will grant you the electrical version of it. This will carry you through the first part of the game until you can get access to the other attachments for Vera.

How to Get The Fire Weapon Attachment

While electricity is well and good, you might want to mix it up with another element. Luckily, it won’t be too long before you find the fire attachment. You will be able to tell you are close to the fire attachment when you start to see fire ammo spawns around the area.

Scars-Above-Fire-Weapon
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

You will officially find the fire attachment at the first survivor camp you come across. After listening to your commander go on about needing to burn himself to cleanse his body, you will find a fire attachment that can be slapped onto the Vera.

This fire attachment has a charging system. So you need to charge up the shot before letting it fire. The trade-off is that the shot can explode on impact and do a bit of AOE damage. This attachment is also pivotal for the Construct boss fight.

How to Get The Ice Weapon Attachment

It won’t be too much longer after you manage to find the fire attachment that you will also find the ice attachment for the Vera. Soon after finding the remnants of the first refuge camp, you will discover a holo area that shows the commander crossing a worm-infested lake.

Scars-Above-Ice-Weapon
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

In order to cross this lake, you will need to find the ice attachment for your weapon to freeze the water. To do this, backtrack out of that area with the holo scan and take the other path available to you.

After going through this pathway for a bit and fighting a few enemies, you will come across some bugs that are secreting a substance that freezes water. Follow this trail of bugs until you reach the queen bug.

You will need to examine the bug in detail which will involve scanning various parts of the bug’s internal organs to understand how the secretions are formed and how they work. This will then unlock the ice attachment for the Vera.

This attachment fires three projectiles in a lobbed arc, so you will need to aim high if you go for long-range shots. You can also use the ice attachment to freeze water and make a platform that you can stand and walk on.

How to Get The Corrosive Weapon Attachment

Now with three attachments under your belt, you are going to have to wait a while before you manage to get the fourth and final attachment. The last attachment you seek is not going to be available until the end of the third chapter of the game.

Scars-Above-Corrosive-Weapon
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

You will unlock the corrosive attachment when you manage to fully defeat the Construct boss fight. The attachment is awarded to you in place of an extra healing charge.

This attachment works like a shotgun does. It has quite a wide spread and does the most damage if you are close to the target so the full spray of acid hits. It is also used to melt through metal pipes that are blocking your path.

With all the attachment acquired, you will be well on your way to dominating the rest of Scars Above. You just need to make sure that you keep your ammo stocks for the various attachments full at all times.

How to Defeat the Construct in Scars Above https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-defeat-the-construct-in-scars-above/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-defeat-the-construct-in-scars-above/#respond Sat, 04 Mar 2023 10:50:37 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=906451 While the Construct is not the first big boss fight of Scars Above it is one that can be quite confusing to many players. The Construct is the first boss fight in the game that features unique mechanics that you need to take advantage of in order to defeat it. Let’s go over how to defeat the Construct in Scars Above.

How to Beat the Construct Boss Fight in Scars Above

First Fight

The confusion that many players experience with the Construct is the lack of information given when you first begin the fight. Up to this point, the other bosses you have faced have been simple “hit them till they die” bosses. However, the Construct has some mechanics that you need to understand to make him take any real damage.

In order to fight with the Construct, you are going to need the fire weapon attachment as well as plenty of ammo for it. This is because you will need to thaw parts of the lake in the middle of the arena in order to fight with the Construct.

What you will want to do during the fight is have the Construct stand on the lake and shoot either his legs on the ground his legs are on with fire in order to melt the ice and have the leg fall into the water. Once the leg falls into the lake, the Construct will get stuck and have to spend some time getting its leg out of the water.

Scars-Above-Construct-Phase-1-and-2-lake-melt
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

While it is struggling to get its leg out of the water, you will want to shoot two more of the Construct’s legs with fire in order to make them fall into the water. With three of its legs stuck in the water, the Construct will collapse a large chunk of ice and fall into the lake.

Scars-Above-Construct-Phase-1-and-2-Damage-Phase
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Once it falls into the lake, it will expose some electrical coils on its head. You will want to use the electrical version of the Vera to hit these points and deal massive damage to the Construct. Simply repeat this process until you win the fight.

Second Fight

After the first fight with the Construct, you will be free to progress through some caves and cliffs to get closer to the tram station. However right before you manage to make your way inside the station, you are going to have another run-in with the Construct.

This fight will work the same way as the first fight for the majority of the time. Simply use fire to heat up its legs and have it fall into the lake, then shoot the exposed coils. However, once the boss hits half health it will begin to stick to walls causing you to come up with a different plant.

In order to knock the Construct off the walls, you will need to shoot the four blue power points on the wall the Construct is sitting on with electricity. Not all the points will be visible at once, so shoot all that you can see and keep your eye on the wall for the points you still need to shoot to become visible.

Scars-Above-Construct-Phase-2-wall-jump
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Once you have hit all four points on the wall, a blast will knock the Construct off of the wall and expose more cores for you to shoot at. Once again you just need to repeat this over and over until you manage to fully drain the boss’s health.

You don’t need to worry about running out of ammo during either of these fights as each arena is covered with ammo pickups. In the first arena, plenty of fire and electric plants are around the outside of the lake for you to use for ammo. In the second arena, there are supply points on the wall you can interact with to receive ammo.

Best Lightfall Hunter Builds in Destiny 2 https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-lightfall-hunter-builds-in-destiny-2/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-lightfall-hunter-builds-in-destiny-2/#respond Sat, 04 Mar 2023 01:36:08 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=906235 Hunters are one of the more interesting classes to try and make a build for in Destiny 2. Compared to other classes, finding a Hunter build that really seems to decimate waves of ads or provides huge amounts of boss damage can be quite difficult. let’s go over some of the best Hunter builds in Destiny 2.

Best Hunter Builds in Destiny 2 Lightfall

Arc Melee Hunter

  • Super – Gathering Storm
  • Class Ability – Gambler’s Dodge
  • Melee – Combination Blow
  • Grenade – Arcbolt Grenade
  • Aspects – Lethal Current, Flow State
  • Fragments – Spark of Resistance, Spark of Shock, Spark of Ions, Spark of Feedback
  • Exotic – Liar’s Handshake

Getting up close and personal with an enemy is never something that Hunters want to consistently do in Destiny 2. However, this arc build is designed to take advantage of melee. The best part is you don’t even need to worry about using any mods to make this build work.

Related: Best Destiny 2 Lightfall Mods Ranked, Worst to Best

The whole gimmick of this build is meleeing enemies over and over. Every other melee you make will heal you and deal increased damage thanks to Liar’s Handshake. You combine this with Combination Blow to allow yourself to always have a charged melee ability.

Destiny-2-Hunter-Arc-Build
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Combination Blow grants you a stacking melee damage bonus on a kill as well as giving you full-class energy and a bit of health for each enemy defeated. This allows you to use Gambler’s Dodge to fully recharge your melee ability after getting a kill. Thus stacking the damage bonus even higher.

Solar Hunter Throwing Knife Build

  • Super –Blade Barrage
  • Class Ability – Gambler’s Dodge
  • Melee – Proximity Knife
  • Grenade – Healing Grenade
  • Aspects – Gunpowder Gambit, Knock ’em Down
  • Fragments – Ember of Torches, Ember of Empyrean, Ember of Eruption
  • Exotics – Caliban’s Hand

If you are looking for a build with a bit more range then this is the one for you. While it does still focus on using your Hunter melee ability over and over, you will be throwing knives this time instead of punching.

While throwing knives might not be as fun as the Hunter’s Threaded Spike, it is just as simple. All you need to do with this build is throw your proximity knife and get a kill with it. This is because you become radiant when throwing the knife thanks to Ember of Torches and Knock ’em Down refunds your throwing knife if it gets a kill while you are radiant.

Destiny-2-Best-Hunter-Build-Solar
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

Caliban’s Hand is used to make the Proximity Knife even more deadly by allowing it to apply scorch to anyone hit by the explosion and making final blows cause ignitions. This is why you run Ember of Eruption to increase your ignitions affected area.

Strand Hunter Grapple Build

  • Super –Silkstrike
  • Class Ability – Marksman Dodge
  • Melee – Threaded Spike
  • Grenade – Grapple Grenade
  • Aspects – Widow’s Silk, Ensnaring Slam
  • Fragments – Thread of Ascent, Thread of Wisdom, Thread of Transmutation, Thread of Generation
  • Exotics – Cyrtarachne’s Facade

Everyone was looking forward to swinging around like Spiderman and with this Hunter build you will be able to do that and more.

For this build, you will want to find a central point in whatever room you are fighting in and grapple up into the air. This will leave behind a grapple point that you can use over and over to proc the rest of this build.

What you do during your grapple is up to you at that point. You gain Woven Mail from Cyrtarachen’s Facade which grants you a 60% damage resistance. You can then choose to melee slam into enemies to unravel them and deal massive damage or use your Ensnaring Slam to suspend a group of enemies.

The fragments also allow you to fully reload your weapon when you grapple, so you will always have a full magazine when you land. You will also be able to make orbs of power by killing suspended targets thanks to Thread of Wisdom.

Hopefully one of these builds can fit well with your Hunter playstyle. If you are getting bored with Hunter you might want to try out a new class like Warlock.

Best Forsaken Exotics in Destiny 2 https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-forsaken-exotics-in-destiny-2/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-forsaken-exotics-in-destiny-2/#respond Fri, 03 Mar 2023 01:12:37 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=906016 Forsaken was the third expansion for Destiny 2 and the beginning of the large expansions for the game. With it, we got a slew of new exotics for players to collect. After all this time has passed and even with the launch of the latest expansion, many of the exotics from Forsaken are still good to use. Let’s go over the best Exotics from Destiny 2.

Forsaken Exotics That You Will Want to get in Destiny 2

It may be shocking to hear that despite being so old, many of the exotics that were added to the game with Forsaken are still viable in the current meta of Destiny 2. To top it off, most of the exotics can just be purchased from the exotic kiosk in the Tower since most of Forskaen’s content has been removed.

Ace of Spades

Destiny-2-Ace-of-Spades

Despite losing Cayde-6 during Forsaken, we were finally able to acquire his trademark hand cannon. The Ace of Spades has been and, unless changed in some way, will be solid exotic hand cannon to put in any build you are running.

Causing huge explosions on headshot kills, the hand cannon comes with Firefly which is a better version of the Dragonfly perk. It also received an increased reload speed after a headshot kill. Reloading after getting any kill with this hand cannon will also load in six extra damage shots into it.

The Chaperone

Destiny-2-Chaperone-scaled
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

This slug shotgun has terrorized the PvP landscape of Destiny 2 since it was brought into the game. It is one of the few Lightweight Frame Shotguns in the game, but the only one that is also a slug frame — making it a great tool for any player that likes to get close in PvP.

Trinity Ghoul

Destiny-2-Trinity-Ghoul-scaled
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

If you are looking for an ad-clearing machine then look no further than Trinity Ghoul. This arc bow has always had its place as the king of cleaning up low-level trash and it doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.

All you need is one kill to set off this bow’s special trait of arcing to every enemy when an arrow hits. The damage each arc causes is normally enough to kill most trash mobs, making it reign supreme as the ad-clearing machine.

Izanagi’s Burden

Izanagis-Burden
Image: Bungie

A nice last-ditch boss damage tool, the Izanagi’s Burden tends to be a staple choice in a lot of high-end PvE content. The ability to load all four shots of the magazine into one bullet for massively increased damage allows it to rival power weapon damage as a gree ammo sniper.

While you won’t be doing all of a boss’s health bar with it, you can clear out some tough ads in a second with just one shot from this sniper.

Anarchy

Destiny-2-Anarchy-scaled
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

While it has never been a bad option to use, the first season of Lightfall is where heavy grenade launchers are going to shine with Anarchy being the brightest star in the sky. This grenade launcher will be a huge boss damage option for raids this season where you can get close enough to use a shotgun as well.

Pairing it with some of the other strongest PvE weapons is what you will see a lot of high-end PvE players doing. If you are looking to take on Grandmasters and raids this season, you will want to pick up Anarchy at some point.

One Thousand Voices

One-Thousand-Voices-Destiny-2
Image: Bungie

While One Thousand Voices is still a raid-locked exotic, it doesn’t change how useful it can be. Prior to the linear fusion rifle meta, One Thousand Voices was quite strong thanks to some seasonal mods. However, now that linears are nerfed, One Thousand Voices might be able to shine again.

If you happen to have this exotic, you might be surprised by the amount of damage it can do. Combined with a proper build, you should be able to put out some consistent damage numbers.

The main issue with One Thousand Voices is that it is not as easy to get as the other exotics on this list. This is one of the few Forsaken exotics that still has an activity attached to it. So you will have to complete the Last Wish raid over and over until you get it as a drop from the chests at the end.

The lack of accessibility is what really seems to keep this weapon out of the running for most people. However, if you already own One Thousand Voices or don’t mind running Last Wish to try and get it, you might want to give this weapon a shot.

Scars Above Review https://attackofthefanboy.com/reviews/scars-above-review/ Thu, 02 Mar 2023 23:06:03 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=904055 A lot of games nowadays seem to be joining the Souls-like bandwagon, letting them blend into a sea of Souls clones despite not being outright replicas. Scars Above seeks to break this norm by borrowing a few elements that are prevalent. This is a difficult undertaking for any game, but the question is, can Scars Above still stand out?

All Alone in an Alien Zone

Scars-Above-Alien-World
Image: Mad Head Games

After a mysterious alien object, called the Metahedron, appears above the earth, the Sentient Contact Assessment and Response Team, or SCAR are dispatched to examine the object up close and figure out its purpose. This is where you pick up the story as Kate, the crew’s scientist. Upon scanning the Metahedron, your ship (along with the other crew members) is sucked inside the alien structure as Kate passes out. When Kate comes to, she is alone in an alien world.

As you trudge along to discover the fate of your shop and crew, Kate begins to have various visions of a weird entity and a holographic alien. The hologram seems to be a remnant from the aliens that used to be in control of this area, and for some reason, it now wants to help Kate out.

The plot of this mysterious figure in the sky that sled to this high-tech alien race’s erasure quickly becomes Kate’s main interest as well as the focus of the game. The crew then becomes relegated as a driving factor for working your way through this alien world and solving all of the problems that these aliens left behind.

However, it very quickly devolves into a “your princess is in another castle” deal with each instance of you finally managing to catch up to your crew leaving you empty-handed with the hologram or some other evidence telling you that they are just ahead and you need to keep going. Each time you arrive at a location where your crewmates should be, you either find a dead body or an abandoned camp with signs that the rest of the crew has moved on from that location.

Mix and Match

Scars-Above-Mix-and-Match
Image: Mad Head Games

A big part of the combat in Scars Above is fighting with ranged combat in various ways. While you can always just shoot enemies until they are dead, you can shorten the fight by trying to combine various elements that your gun uses to create reactions or by using the environment to create the reaction.

Since you only have the electricity version of your gun to begin with, you are rather limited on available options. For the most part, you can bait enemies into the water and then shoot it with your weapon to create an AOE electrical attack that thankfully won’t damage you. Later on, you will have access to fire, ice, and corrosive elemental weapons attachments that can interact with the environment in different ways.

However, this is a point that Scars Above falls flat on. The environment interactions are only useful for one stage that you travel through and then never seem to come back as often as they could. You start out in a jungle where you can electrify and freeze the water to either hurt enemies or create platforms for yourself. Then you move onto an ice area where you can use the fire to melt ice lakes and instantly kill enemies by freezing them.

But the whole time you are in the ice area, you are not able to use any of the combinations that you learned about in the jungle. Then once you leave the ice area, you are never going to need to melt ice lakes again. If you could go back to these areas for some reason it would still be useful but you never really backtrack in the game; you are constantly moving forward into new areas.

Various One-Offs Don’t Make A Good Game

Scars-Above-One-off-mechanics
Image: Mad Head Games

There is a running trend in Scars Above, where it will introduce mechanics that are interesting but never seems to come back to them. It has a lot of one-and-done moments that could have very well been repurposed later.

The weapon crafting system where you have to drag all the pieces together never comes back when it could have easily been used again — like when you get your other three elemental attachments for your gun. Many of the elemental interactions are linked to a single area and don’t see much use outside of that area. They just get replaced by a new interaction.

The only system that seems to return is the investigation events because in case you forgot, Kate is a scientist, not a fighter. These events can come in two different forms that are frustrating. One investigation form is where you are presented with an area and must piece together what happened by interacting with various points around a marked zone. These are not too challenging since the points you need to investigate tend to be obvious.

The other investigation event involves performing a deep scan of a machine or lifeform which is frustrating since you have no real direction on what points you need to hover over and interact with. This can lead to just slowly scanning your cursor over the entire scene until it happens to change color when you pass over the applicable items.

A Melting Pot of Mechanics

Scars-Above-Leveling-System
Image: Mad Head Games

The final nail in the coffin for Scars Above is just how poorly everything seems to mesh together. The game borrows so many ideas from Souls-like games that work well on their own, but when combined with the original mechanics, they just fall flat.

Scars Above has a bonfire-esque system through the use of pillars. By interacting with a pillar, you set it as a respawn point, heal yourself, and restore some ammo. You can also come back to a previously used pillar at any point to heal and restock at the cost of respawning all the enemies you have killed. But the issue is that Scars Above is a linear game; you won’t find yourself ever backtracking to a pillar to heal. The only time you return to a pillar is when you open a shortcut back to a pillar you have already visited.

Scars Above also expects you to avoid using these pillars as respawn points considering that story progress is lost on death. So any cutscenes will need to be rewatched, however, upgrades that you grab will stay in your inventory. This can leave you in a loop of watching the same story cutscene over and over until you manage to finally reach the next pillar. Which makes the use of pillars instead of just regular checkpoints all the more confusing.

The leveling system in Scars Above is also something that is normally fine on its own but when combined with the other mechanics, it falls flat. It is less of a leveling system and more of a progression tracker. You can’t farm XP to increase your level before a fight. You only get XP by scanning a new enemy type for the first time or by grabbing little cubes in the open world. These cubes don’t respawn, though, so once you get all the XP out of an area you might as well move on. The idea of a leveling system just doesn’t benefit from a linear experience like this.

The Verdict

Scars-Above-Death-Screen
Image: Mad Head Games

Tragically, these mechanics don’t blend well together, thus ruining the whole experience of Scars Above. While it has a solid foundation and the original idea works well, all the other mechanics grinding against one another make the experience unenjoyable.

This is what will unfortunately make Scars Above fall into the sea of various Souls-like games despite having a lot of stand-out features for itself. The core may be solid and fun, but no one wants to waste their time having to dig through all the problems that this game suffers.

How to Use Grapple Points in Destiny 2 Lightfall https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-use-grapple-points-in-destiny-2-lightfall/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-use-grapple-points-in-destiny-2-lightfall/#respond Wed, 01 Mar 2023 05:27:08 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=905282 The long-awaited grapple ability has finally been added to Destiny 2 with Lightfall and Strand. Players have been teased about this ability but never really had any clarification on how it works. Now that they are able to swing through the streets of Neonuma, many are confused about how the grapple points work. Let’s go over the grapple points in Destiny 2.

How Grapple Points Work in Destiny 2

The grapple ability in Destiny 2 is something that players have been waiting for ever since it was teased alongside Lightfall last year. Now that they finally have it, everyone is excited to see how it works in the new Neonuma location.

Related: Destiny 2: All Neomuna Lost Sector Locations Map

However, something that players quickly noticed was these orbs of strand floating in the sky throughout Neonuma and many of the missions that you play in the campaign. These orbs are grapple points that you can use with the new Strand subclass.

While you don’t have to grapple to an orb in order to send yourself flying, you might want to try and use them when available. Grappling normally will consume your grapple charge and leave you ground-bound until you get the grapple back.

However, if you use a grapple point with your grapple ability, it will not consume your grapple charge. Leaving you free to swing across any number of grapple points until you want to land. Combine these points with the increased melee damage you get out of a grapple and you have some solid damage strats with them.

Why Does Every Mission in Lightfall Have Grapple Points?

Since you won’t be able to unlock Strand for yourself until you finish the full campaign, many players are a bit confused when they enter a mission and see grapple points in sight. This makes you think that you will be able to get Strand somewhere nearby. However, this is not the case.

Destiny-2-Grapple-Points
Image: Attack of the Fanboy

These grapple points are put in missions so you can use them when you come back into the missions with Strand in the future. Many of the campaign missions are meant to be replayed in order to earn some high-tier loot and as such need to be accessible to Strand users.

So while it may be a bit sad that you can’t use Strand in every mission in Lightfall, you can be excited to come back to missions and swing through them later on to get some good gear.

Before you replay any of the missions, you will want to make sure that you have unlocked Strand to take advantage of these grapple points. You can also boost through the campaign and come back later with Strand to experience it that way if you want.

Destiny 2: How to Increase Guardian Rank Quickly https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/destiny-2-how-to-increase-guardian-rank-quickly/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/destiny-2-how-to-increase-guardian-rank-quickly/#respond Wed, 01 Mar 2023 03:29:12 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=905255 Guardian Ranks are just one of the many additions that were added to Destiny 2 with the release of Lightfall. This new system was put in place of the previous triumph system and is supposed to guide new players. There are also plenty of nice bonuses locked behind these Guardian Ranks which makes many people want to level them up as fast as possible. Let’s go over how to quickly rank up your Guardian Ranks in Destiny 2.

How to Quickly Rank Up Your Guardian Rank in Destiny 2

The Guardian Rank system does more than just allow you to flex how good you are at the game. It is also supposed to help new players figure out what activities are available by guiding them in order to increase their rank and slowly unlock more features in Destiny 2.

Related: How to Unlock Additional Loadout Slots in Destiny 2

This is much better than the previous tutorial that just launched players out into the wild open world of Destiny 2 and only limited them to their builds. However, locking features behind the ranks system is leading many players to want to quickly rank up.

Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be any real trick to quickly ranking up; you just have to complete challenges like normal. You can go through and pick out specific challenges that would be easy for you to do in particular if you want to level up as fast as possible. You will need to complete 23 challenges to get to Rank 7 since most players are starting at rank 6.

Many of this season’s challenges seem to be linked to completing the full Lightfall campaign and unlocking Strand. This might take a bit of time to do, so you will want to focus on some of the other challenges.

You could focus on getting 50 kills with the seasonal exotic bow, which will also contribute toward getting the catalyst. There are also plenty of challenges for getting vendor ranks that can be passively done while you are completing Nightfalls and other activities.

What Does the Eye Icon Mean in Sons of the Forest? – Answered https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/what-does-the-eye-icon-mean-in-sons-of-the-forest-answered/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/what-does-the-eye-icon-mean-in-sons-of-the-forest-answered/#respond Tue, 28 Feb 2023 01:20:41 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=904702 The HUD in Sons of the Forest provides a lot of information to you at all times. However, knowing what every little icon that pops up on the HUD means can be quite difficult when there is no tutorial or pop-up to tell you about it when you first see it. While some may be self-explanatory, other icons, like the eye icon, could mean anything in Sons of the Forest. let’s go over what the eye icon means in Sons of the Forest.

The Eye Icon in Sons of the Forest

When it comes to dealing with enemies in Sons of the Forest, you might think you either have to fight them to get past them or run away and come back later. However, there is a third option, sneaking.

Related: How to Kill Enemies in Sons of the Forest

That is where our mysterious eye icon comes in. Unlike the strength icon, the eye icon will only be visible when an enemy is nearby. This icon functions similarly to the detection system in Skyrim and Fallout. It is more of an on-off system rather than a sort of scale where an enemy gradually notices you.

If you don’t see the icon on your HUD, you are safe and sound. However, if the icon shows up, an enemy has seen you and is actively hunting you down. This means you will want to either run or try to hide until the eye icon goes away on your HUD.

Outside of trying to sneak through areas covered in enemies, you can also use this system as an indicator to know if you are in danger. If you happen to notice the icon on your HUD and don’t want to fight whatever is hunting you, you will want to run back to your base to try to wait them out.

Related: How to Make Gates on Defensive Walls in Sons of the Forest

If you are having a hard time getting to areas without running into any enemies, you might want to consider making yourself some good armor and gearing up a bit to try to take them on. Getting your hands on a gun will also help you in any fight.

It doesn’t matter if you are looking to fight the enemies or steer clear of them to collect resources. You will always want to keep an eye on your HUD to see if the eye icon appears so you can know if you are safe or not.

How to Get Tech Mesh in Sons of the Forest https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-tech-mesh-in-sons-of-the-forest/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-tech-mesh-in-sons-of-the-forest/#respond Sun, 26 Feb 2023 12:37:28 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=904059 The best way to ensure your survival in Sons of the Forest is to get your hands on some high-tech gear as fast as possible and to do that you need tech mesh. Due to the fact that the island you are on is part resort and research facility, it is quite easy to get some gear that you normally wouldn’t be able to find in the woods. Let’s go over how to get tech mesh in Sons of the Forest.

Where to Find Tech Mesh in Sons of the Forest

Saying that you are able to find tech mesh is a bit of a lie because you won’t be able to find any around like you would some rope or duct tape. You instead need to find a 3D printer and print the tech mesh at it.

These 3D printers can be found in various facilities around the island. You will want to find one that you have ease of access to since you will probably be coming back to the printer multiple times.

Related: How to Get a Shovel in Sons of the Forest

Once you have managed to locate a 3D printer, you will need some resin in order to craft any tech mesh. The rooms that house 3D printers normally have some resin stored nearby but you will most likely need to explore multiple facilities and stockpile some resin for all of the tech mesh and other items you will want to print.

Once you have enough resin loaded into the 3D printer, you will want to use the nearby laptop. This is quite a simple system, you hit one key to cycle the item selected to print and then hit another key to print the item. Items do take a bit of time to print, normally 20 to 30 seconds for tech mesh, so make sure you are not in damage when you are printing.

Once the printer is done, you will be able to grab whatever you printed off of the base of the printer. This will then free it up to begin printing another object.

What is Tech Mesh Used For in Sons of the Forest

In the current build of Sons of the Forest, you can only use tech mesh to create tech armor. However, this will probably change as the game gets updated.

This means you will want to stockpile a bit of tech mesh so you can immediately craft all of the new items that require it when they are added to the game. Luckily it goes into your inventory so you don’t need to worry about storing it.

Hopefully, the next item to use tech mesh will be some sort of high-tech ranged weapon. Maybe a bow of some kind that uses the tech mesh as a bowstring. That would allow it to still fit with the primal feel of the game but give you an advantage over the cannibals around you.

How to Build a Base in Sons of the Forest https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-build-a-base-in-sons-of-the-forest/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-build-a-base-in-sons-of-the-forest/#respond Fri, 24 Feb 2023 22:32:57 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=903800 Having a nice base to stay in during the night time is a necessity in Sons of the Forest. Not only will it give you a place to store all of your resources but it will also help keep you safe from the cannibals that patrol the forest. But building a base can be a bit challenging when you are just starting out. Let’s go over how to build a base in Sons of the Forest.

What You Need to Build a Base in Sons of the Forest

In order to build a base in Sons of the Forest, you are going to need a lot of resources. The most basic of what you will need is a bunch of logs. So start chopping trees and dragging logs to your ideal base location, preferably near fresh water.

Related: How to Build a Rain Catcher in Sons of the Forest

Outside of logs, you will want to gather a bunch of other basic resources like sticks and leaves to help out with building smaller things like drying racks and roofs for your buildings. gathering all of this is super easy since you don’t need to worry about inventory space for small items.

Don’t forget you can also send Kelvin out to gather some of the smaller resources for you like sticks and whatnot. That way you can focus on building while he is out gathering.

How to Build In Sons of the Forest

To build a base or any structure for that matter, you will want to first open your crafting journal by pressing B (by default). With this open, you will have the option to place down a few premade structures.

Starting out you will probably want to just make a basic tent with a campfire for your base. While this won’t provide much defense, it will give you a place to take nap so you don’t get too exhausted.

As you progress through the game, you will be able to build full-on buildings as well as defensible walls and gates to make a compound for yourself that you can call home.

Once you have your base fully set up, you should feel a lot more confident to go out and explore the world. Maybe you can find yourself a nice firearm for defense or just gather more materials to craft some nice armor for yourself.

How to Make and Use a Drying Rack in Sons of the Forest https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-make-and-use-a-drying-rack-in-sons-of-the-forest/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-make-and-use-a-drying-rack-in-sons-of-the-forest/#respond Fri, 24 Feb 2023 19:58:01 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=903763 You are going to need plenty of food to survive in Sons of the Forest. Before you even begin to worry about the cannibals trying to eat you, you first have to worry about what you are going to eat when the seasons change. With winter, animal meat will be much harder to get, so you will want to make a drying rack to help stockpile some food. let’s go over how to make a drying rack in Sons of the Forest.

What You Need to Make a Drying Rack in Sons of the Forest

Making a drying rack is quite simple, you just need a few sticks. 13 sticks is the exact number you will need in order to craft yourself a drying rack.

The sticks are quite easy to get, just walk into the forest and keep your eyes on the ground for any lying around. You can also get some from chopping down trees. Just make sure you are wearing a bit of armor to not get killed by cannibals while gathering the sticks.

If you don’t want to risk your own life going into the forest to gather some sticks, you can always send in your good pal Kelvin to get them for you. As long as you haven’t let anything happen to him of course.

How to Craft the Drying Rack in Sons of the Forest

Once you have managed to get your hands on the sticks you need to craft the drying rack, you just need to pull up your little journal to craft it. This can be done by pressing B by default to bring out your journal.

The drying rack can be found under the storage tab of craftable objects. Just select it and you should get an outlined version of it for you to place. Once you find the right spot for it, press the left mouse to place down the blueprint and then begin crafting it.

How to Use the Drying Rack in Sons of the Forest

Once you have the drying rack all crafted up, you will need a bit of raw meat to actually use on it. Simply hunt down some forest animals or patrol the beaches looking for some unfortunate turtles to get yourself a bit of meat from.

With some meat in your inventory, you will want to go up to any of the unused hooks on the drying rack and interact with them to place some meat on them to cure and dry. It will take a bit of time for the meat to dry, so make sure you are not starving when you start this process.

With the meat drying, you are free to go explore the rest of the island and know that you will have some nice food when you make it back to base. As long as your base is well-defended that is. You can use this time to get some of the sought-after tech armor or perhaps try to get a better gun to defend yourself with.

So it shouldn’t be surprising that everyone is going after the Tech armor to make their survival just that much easier. However, getting this armor is no easy task. Let’s go over how to get Tech armor for yourself in Sons of the Forest.

How to Craft Tech Armor in Sons of the Forest

Since Tech armor is the most advanced set of armor you can make in the game, it is going to be a bit difficult to craft for yourself. The first thing you are going before you can craft yourself a set of Tech armor is a 3D printer.

Related: How to Get Armor in Sons of the Forest

You can find a 3D printer in some of the various high-tech facilities around the island. Most of these facilities are accessed via a cave or by digging up a hole in the ground. These will normally contain a bunch of quality resources like duct tape and wire, as well as a 3D printer and some resin for it.

You will need to raid a bunch of these facilities for their resin since each piece of armor takes a decent amount of resin to craft. Once you have a nice stockpile of resin, you will want to make your way to a 3D printer and make a few pieces of tech mesh.

For each piece of tech armor you want to craft you will need a piece of tech mesh, a circuit board, duct tape, and wire. This will get you a single piece of armor per craft with six pieces of tech armor needed to cover your whole body.

You would assume that since this armor has the highest cost of all the armor in the game at the moment that it would be the best armor you can get. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. many players have reported that the Tech armor is not worth the cost.

The Tech armor doesn’t block much more damage than the other medium-tier armor in the game and it seems to break after a few hits. The only way Tech armor is useful is if it bugs out and becomes indestructible.

You would be better off spending your high-end resources to craft yourself some of the better guns in the game than the Tech armor. At least they will make defending yourself easier than the Tech armor will.

Not only are you stuck alone in the wilderness, but you also have cannibals constantly trying to kill and eat you. One way you can help improve your odds of living through a fight with these cannibals is by crafting yourself some armor. Let’s go over how to craft armor in Sons of the Forest.

What Kinds of Armor is Available in Sons of the Forest

As you progress through Sons of the Forest, survival will get easier or you as you are able to craft better and better items. While you may think this only pertains to upgrading your base to make life easier, you will also be able to craft better armor to help yourself survive a bit easier.

Related: How to Build a Rain Catcher in Sons of the Forest

Currently, there are four sets of armor in the game. Leaf Armor, Hide Armor, Bone Armor, and Tech Armor. All of these different sets of armor have different crafting recipes and as such provide different levels of protection.

While that may not seem like a lot of armor options, more armor will probably be added with future updates. There is no telling where the end cap of armor will be with how the tech in this game seems to advance.

How to Craft Each Set of Armor

Leaf Armor

this is going to be the most basic kind of armor you can get in the game. It’s not really going to do much for you since it is just made from leaves but it is better than wearing nothing.

Since it doesn’t do much for you defensively, it won’t cost much for you to make. All you need to craft the Leaf Armor is 10 leaves and one piece of cloth.

These are some pretty basic materials that you will most defiantly have laying around after you manage to put down your first base. So crafting yourself a set is going to be too costly for you.

While you won’t be wearing this armor long, it is still worth crafting to wear while you go out for your first few food gathering and exploration runs.

Hide Armor

This will be your next step up in armor alongside Bone armor. It really just depends on which resources you can spare first. Hide does seem to be a bit cheaper so you might be rocking this sooner than Bone armor.

All you need to craft yourself some Hide armor is a single piece of cloth and two pieces of hide. Not too expensive in the grand scheme of things and the protection boost over Leaf armor makes it well worth it.

Bone Armor

This armor is on the same tier as Hide armor as they both offer the same amount of protection. You just need a bit more resources to craft this set of armor, so you won’t be wearing it as early as hide most likely.

To craft the Bone armor, you will need four bones, a rope, and some duct tape. While bones will come to you over time, the rope and duct tape can be a bit harder.

You will first need to secure a simple way to get yourself some rope. The duct tape is not really an item you can craft from nothing but instead a resource that you will find as you explore the game. This makes it a bit rarer of a resource and not something you want to use lightly.

Tech Armor

The last armor you have available to use right now is Tech armor. This armor is going to be either the hardest or the easiest armor to get your hands on depending on how good you are at exploration.

Before you can even consider crafting the Tech armor, you will first need to find yourself a 3D printer location. These can be found in the various facilities in caves and the like.

Once you have found a 3D printer, you will need to print yourself out some of the tech mesh. You will need a piece of tech mesh, a circuit board, duct tape, and wire for each piece of tech armor you want to craft.

This makes it the most expensive armor to craft in the game at the moment and it doesn’t seem worth the payoff. The armor seems to break quite quickly and doesn’t provide much more protection than the Hide or Bone armor sets.

Maybe some more effects will be added for the tech armor down the line but at the moment you will be better off sticking with some of the other armor sets.

Now that you can explore without the fear of dying as easily, you can start to check out the various exclamation points on your map to see what those contain.

How to Build a Rain Catcher in Sons of the Forest https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-build-a-rain-catcher-in-sons-of-the-forest/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-build-a-rain-catcher-in-sons-of-the-forest/#respond Fri, 24 Feb 2023 10:15:02 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=903468 When it comes to surviving in the Sons of the Forest, not only do you need to worry about the cannibals on the island trying to kill you but also about securing water to survive off of. Finding clean water on the island can be hard but making a rain catcher can make it easier. Let’s go over how to make a rain catcher in Sons of the Forest.

How to Build a Rain Catcher in Sons of the Forest

Since this is a sequel to The Forest, a lot of the previous games crafting recipes have been brought over to Sons of the Forest. However, it does not seem like a Rain Catcher can currently be crafted in Sons of the Forest.

Since Sons of the Forest is in early access at the moment, it is not hard to believe that a lot of craftable items will be missing currently. However, that does not mean that a rain catcher will not be added in with a future update.

Related: Sons of the Forest Full Game Release Date: When Does Early Access End?

If you want to go ahead and stockpile items that will most likely be used in a rain catcher, you will want to make sure you hold onto a few turtle shells and secure yourself a way of getting rope easily.

Turtle shells were used in The Forest to hold water so it makes since that building something might require them as well as some rope to hold it all together.

What you can do at the moment is track down a source of fresh water and put your base down next to it. Luckily, you have a GPS that will make finding fresh water much easier. Just pull up your GPS and look for a river or lake on the map.

Unlike The Forest, any freshwater sources of water like lakes and rivers are completely safe to drink without the need to boil them first. There are also plenty of plants like berries and various flowers that will give you plenty of water on the go.

Once you do manage to find a river and set up your base, you will want to go ahead and save your game so you don’t have to make that trek or build your base if you die or the game closes for some reason.

Just make sure you don’t wander too far from your base and get lost or else you might have a hard time making your way back to the same lake with the size of the map. Fully exploring the area around your base might also yield some valuable resources, so sticking close isn’t a bad idea.

Does Atomic Heart Have Cloud Save? – Answered https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/does-atomic-heart-have-cloud-save-answered/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/does-atomic-heart-have-cloud-save-answered/#respond Thu, 23 Feb 2023 19:32:06 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=903178 Something we have come to expect from many modern games is the ability to save our games to the cloud. Atomic Heart is no exception. The game is quite long and if you are playing outside of your home, like at a friend’s house, you will want to be able to keep that progress once you get back to your console or PC. Let’s go over if Atomic Heart has cloud saving and how to enable it.

How to Cloud Save Your Game in Atomic Heart

Current generation consoles have access to cloud saving as long as you have a subscription to their online service. So if you are playing on Xbox or Playstation you should be ok. But PC does not have native cloud saving unless you are playing on Steam. So if you are on Game Pass, make sure that each game you are playing has cloud saves. Luckily, Atomic Heart does seem to support cloud saves on Game Pass.

Cloud saves allow you to upload your save of a game and then download it onto another system and pick right up where you left off. The big issue with cloud saving is that it is tied to the platform you are playing the game on rather than the game itself.

Since Atomic Heart is such a long game, you might not be able to finish it all in one sitting. If you start playing the game on something that isn’t your home system, you will obviously want to transfer your save game back to your personal system. That’s where cloud saving comes in.

Related: How to Transfer Atomic Heart Save File From Gamepass to Steam?

How to Upload a Cloud Save on Consoles

For the most part, cloud saving on consoles is automatic. As long as you have it enabled, which can be done through your system or account settings, any saves you make in a game will automatically be uploaded to the cloud.

You can manage your cloud saves of games by going into your saved data for each game and either deleting or manually uploading a specific save if it is not already on the cloud. But for most people, just saving your game should do the trick.

How to Upload Clouds Saves on Steam

Just like consoles, Steam cloud saving is done automatically each time you exit a game as long as you don’t turn it off. Steam can run into issues with uploading or downloading the cloud save of your game, but it will notify you of this when it happens so you can fix it on the spot.

If you are worried that your save might not be saved to the cloud, you can check the status of the cloud save by looking right next to the play button on the games page in your library. It will tell you if there is a cloud save available for your game and if it is up to date or not.

If there is an issue with your cloud save either not uploading or downloading, this are will have a button for you to click on that will attempt to manually upload or download the latest save available. Any further settings you might want to edit with cloud saves can be done through the cloud settings in the Steam settings window.

Hopefully, Gamepass will soon add a platform-wide cloud save feature rather than it being a per-game basis. However, it does seem to have the ability to carry over Atomic Heart saves on the cloud. You just need to be logged in on the same Microsoft account on any device you want to access the save on.

Who is Nessie in Apex Legends? Full Origin Explained https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/who-is-nessie-in-apex-legends-full-origin-explained/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/who-is-nessie-in-apex-legends-full-origin-explained/#respond Thu, 23 Feb 2023 09:18:22 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=902923 Nessie has been an icon for Apex Legends since the release of the game. In fact, Nessie has been around all of the Titanfall universe games since the original Titanfall was released. However, much like the real Loch Ness Monster, no one really knows where Nessi came from. Let’s go over the origin story of Nessi in Apex Legends and why it has stuck around with the franchise for so long.

The Origin of Nessie in Apex Legends

With how deeply tied Nessie is with Apex Legends, you wouldn’t be faulted for thinking that the cute plushie originated from Apex. It is so closely tied with Wattson that even her heirloom weapon has a reference to Nessie. However, this little mythical creature has more history with the Titanfall franchise than you may think.

Related: Wattson Heirloom Leaked for Apex Legends

Nessie was originally created as a joke with the reveal of the original Titanfall. When Titanfall was first announced, all fans got was a blurry image of one of the game’s maps. Fans took this burly image and jokingly called it an image of Nessie. From then on the adorable plushie was cemented into the franchise.

There are not many references to Nessie in the original Titanfall; she’s only found on two of the game’s maps. Titanfall 2 is chock full of plushies that the community has hunted down over the years. With 12 different locations, the Nessie plushie can be found.

However, Apex Legends is truly where the community has received the most amount of Nessie easter eggs. The plushies have found their way into many of the game’s weapon charms and holosprays over the various seasons, allowing players to always bring the creature with them to the arena.

Wattson has had a huge crossover with Nessie. Not only do some of her banner cosmetics pay homage to the plushie, but she even has a skydive emote that has her throwing Nessie plushies through the air.

For every new season release of Apex Legends, it seems that Nessie makes another return in some way. Even the anniversary event is chock full of Nessie references. However the Nessie appearances don’t stop at just references in the menus and cosmetics—even the maps themselves have Nessie easter eggs on them.

The Kings Canyon map has an easter egg involving 10 Nessi plushes hidden around the map. If you hit all 10 plushies a giant Nessie will appear in the swamp accompanied by a notification that “A Nessy Surfaces.”

You can also find various Nessie plushies in the Firing Range. A plushie is in Big Maude on World’s Edge. Several can be found across Olympus. Both Storm Point and Overflow have a single plushie on them. Finally, Broken Moon has four different plushies for you to find across the map.

Keep an eye on each season’s lobby as some lobby backgrounds will contain a Nessie plushie in them. With all of these references, it seems like Nessie will be stuck with the Apex community for much longer. Maybe we can expect a Nessie easter egg in the upcoming Apex Legends Board game.

Movie and Book References You Might Have Missed in Hogwarts Legacy https://attackofthefanboy.com/articles/movie-and-book-references-you-might-have-missed-in-hogwarts-legacy/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/articles/movie-and-book-references-you-might-have-missed-in-hogwarts-legacy/#respond Thu, 23 Feb 2023 03:14:54 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=901291 Hogwarts Legacy truly does feel like a game that is a love letter to fans that have always wanted to explore the wizarding world captured in the movies and books. While Hogwarts Legacy does a great job of incorporating many of the recognizable, iconic locations into main areas, there are quite a few that can be easily missed if you don’t keep your eye out for them.

Notable Locations in Hogwarts Legacy You May Have Missed

Hagrid’s Groundskeeper Hut

Hogwarts-Legacy-Groundskeeper-Hut
Image: Avalanche Software

Although Hagrid is not in this game since it takes place at a different time than the movies and books, his iconic hut can still be found in the game. The main cast of Harry Potter spent a bit of time at the groundskeeper’s hut and it is a nice little nod to see it fully rendered in Hogwarts Legacy.

Although the inside is not as lively as it was in the movies, it is quite interesting to get a full-scale view of Hagrid’s hut from a different perspective compared to the movies. If you want to come see the hut for yourself, take the southern path out of Hogwarts and cross the bridge. If you keep following the dirt path, you should come across the hut for you to explore.

The Black Lake

Hogwarts-Legacy-Black-Lake
Image: Avalanche Software

While it may be unfair to say you “missed” this reference since it is a bit difficult to miss the huge lake surrounding Hogwarts, the game never really directs you toward the lake outside of flying over it during the broom tutorial. The Black Lake, or the Great Lake, as is it referred to in the game, was quite pivotal in the movies and books since it was not only the way that Harry took to get to Hogwarts during his first year, but also where one of the Goblet of Fire Triwizard Tournament events takes place.

While you can’t really explore this lake in depth like you can with the groundskeeper’s shack, it is still interesting to come to look at and fly around. Just circling around the lake will grant you tons of potion-crafting resources as well as some Merlin challenges and dungeons around it to do as well.

Hogsmeade Station

Hogwarts-Legacy-Hogsmead-Station
Image: Avalanche Software

Outside of flying over the station on your Hippogriff for the first time, you could very easily miss the Hogsmeade Station unless you are going for 100% completion of Hogwarts Legacy. This is quite notable since this is where any students on the Hogwarts Express will disembark before taking their boat ride across the Black Lake to the school.

Despite being called Hogsmeade Station, it’ is a bit away pretty far from Hogsmeade itself. Head straight South from Hogsmeade and keep the lake to your right if you want to find the station. Using a broom or Hippogriff will make finding the station much easier since you can just follow the tracks from above until you arrive.

Zonko’s Prank Shop

Hogwarts-Legacy-Zonkos-Prank-Shop
Image: Avalanche Software

The favorite shop for the Weasley Twins, Zonko’s Prank Shop, has way too much detail for a side shop that you are never forced to visit for the main story. While you can’t actually buy any wizard pranks from this shop it is still fun to explore and interact with everything inside. The musical balloons and ominous red button are one of the few interactable in the game that serves no purpose outside of being pure fun.

To visit the shop for yourself, you will want to just follow the main road into Hogsmeade until it splits. The shop is right there where it splits, and noticeable with all of the fireworks going off outside of the shopfront.

The Player Character in Hogwarts Legacy Could Really Use Silencio https://attackofthefanboy.com/articles/the-player-character-in-hogwarts-legacy-could-really-use-silencio/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/articles/the-player-character-in-hogwarts-legacy-could-really-use-silencio/#respond Wed, 22 Feb 2023 21:06:30 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=901278 Something that might have seemed charming to many players at first but can quickly become annoying is the consistent character talking in Hogwarts Legacy. While it is expected for your character to talk a bunch during cutscenes and story missions, it isn’t expected for your character to ramble on as you explore the game world. From having to spam spells over and over to entering Hogsmeade for your 50th time, your character always has little quips to say that eventually stop being cute.

Does It Get Any More Cozy Than Hogsmeade?

The classic lines your character utters every time you walk into the hub hamlet of Hogsmead are meant to remind you that the time is quite small and lively. While it may be nice to hear on your first visit of a play session, you’re forced to bear with the same one of two lines each and every time you walk or travel into Hogsmeade.

It almost seems like Avalanche Studios is trying to reassure me that Hogsmeade is a super safe and quaint town only for it to turn into some sort of warzone later in the game. I don’t need to be asked if I know of anywhere more cozy than Hogsmeade, I just want to sell our extra gear at a premium and pick up some potion supplies.

Walking into any iconic area from the franchise game seems to prompt the protagonist to spout some line about it, just to remind you that this area is from the movies in case you forgot. The main issue with all of these lines is that they don’t seem to stop. It doesn’t matter how many times I walk into Hogsmeade, my character just has to say something about it.

And there is no way to turn them off separately, that is, without turning off all dialogue in the game. Normally a game that has this much talking will allow you to set passive chatter to a specific degree, but not Hogwarts Legacy and it is tragically missing.

Just Let Me Think About How To Solve The Puzzle For a Second

It seems to be a common trend in games to have the character think aloud about how to solve a puzzle if the player is stuck rather than slapping a big popup window in your face telling you what to do. Hogwarts Legacy also takes this approach but doesn’t really give the player enough time to fully take in the room before your character “hints” you toward the answer.

Normally, a game will wait a few minutes and let the player attempt a solution or two before having a character comment on their observation. But not Hogwarts Legacy.

Even in rooms where I can solve the puzzle right away, the protagonist always seems obligated to interject. “Maybe I need to move the platforms through these portals,” they’ll say, while I am in the middle of doing just that. At least give me a chance to mess around!

I get that giving advice is needed in any game that includes puzzles. There have even been times when the protagonist genuinely helps. I just want Hogwarts Legacy to give let me make the attempt before my character starts butting.

How to complete the Warzone 2 DMZ Missing Person Mission https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-complete-the-warzone-2-dmz-missing-person-mission/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-complete-the-warzone-2-dmz-missing-person-mission/#respond Wed, 22 Feb 2023 19:30:41 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=902708 With the newest season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the DMZ game mode has seen a reset to everyone’s ranking with the various factions. As such, people are racing to get their ranks back to tier five again. One mission that seems to be standing in a lot of gamer’s way is the missing person missing for the Legion faction. let’s go over how you can complete the missing person mission in Warzone 2 DMZ.

Warzone 2 DMZ Missing Person Letter Location

This quest is broken into two parts with the first part having you visit the good old Al Mazrah map. Once there you just need to make your way to Sarrif Bay and visit the local bathhouse in the town. There will be a few AI present in the town but unless a stronghold is nearby you shouldn’t have to worry too much.

The bathhouse can be found on the North side of the city with a gas station to the West of it. Simply walk in the front door of the bathhouse and grab the driver’s letter than is sitting on the edge of the fountain inside.

With the letter in your bag, you just need to extract the location with it to complete the first part of the quest. However, just grabbing the letter and going feels like a bit of a waste so why not complete some other missions while here?

Warzone 2 DMZ Missing Person Letter Plant Location

With the letter in your bag and you safely extracted from Al Mazrah, you will now need to take a trip to the new Ashika Island map. Since this map is much smaller, you will have an easier time getting around and completing all the new tasks on it, but you will need to be more worried about running into other players.

There is also a whole new set of weapon case rewards that you can get if you feel like risking it all to collect them. However, if you just want to complete the missing person mission, you will need to make your way to Oganikku Farms.

Once there you will want to make your way inside the B apartment complex on the South Eastern side of the area. Be careful as the other side of the apartments can spawn as a stronghold thus increasing the amount of AI and the risk of other players showing up.

You don’t need a keycard to get inside the apartment for your quest. You just need to walk up to the top floor of the complex and go into room B7. Once inside you will want to plant the letter next to the fridge in the apartment.

  • DMZ-Oganikku-Farms-Apartment-Location
  • DMZ-Oganikku-Farms-Apartment-Entrance

With that, the mission person’s quest should complete on the spot. Although the quest does say something about needing to survive and extract, once you plant the letter you are done with it.

Since you don’t need to worry about dying now, why not go for the new TAQ-56 blueprint that was added with Ashika Island? Although you could also use this time to try to rack up some extra cash by selling some items you have already looted.

All Weapon Unlock Levels in Warhammer 40k Darktide https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/all-weapon-unlock-levels-in-warhammer-40k-darktide/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/all-weapon-unlock-levels-in-warhammer-40k-darktide/#respond Wed, 22 Feb 2023 00:15:13 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=902166 Since you are considered to be a prisoner in Warhammer 40k: Darktide, it makes sense that you are not allowed to use top-of-the-line weapons right out of the gate. You are going to prove that you can not only be trusted to use the best gear but also that you are going to make it back alive from your missions before they start handing out higher-tier gear. Let’s go over at what level you unlock weapons for each class in Warhammer 40k: Darktide.

All Sharpshooter Weapon Unlocks in Warhammer 40k Darktide

For Sharpshooter, you can expect to see a lot of different versions of ranged weapons popping up since it is their primary damage source. Here are all of the Sharpshooter’s weapon unlocks by level:

  • Level One – MG Ia Infantry Lasgun, MG IV Infantry Lasgun, Munitorum Sapper Shovel
  • Level Two – Mk I Infantry Autogun, Mk VIII Infantry Autogun, Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver, Mk III Shredder Autopistol, Mk II Combat Axe, Mk III Combat Blade
  • Level Three – Mk V Combat Axe, Mk III Headhunter Autogun
  • Level Four – MG XII Infantry Lasgun, Mk I “Delia’s Claw” Sword
  • Level Five – Mk VIII Headhunter Autogun, Mk I Helbore Lasgun, MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol
  • Level Six – Mk II Tactical Axe, Mk V Infantry Autogun
  • Level Seven – Mk II Braced Auogun, Mk II Helbore Lasgun, Mk IV “Devil’s Claw” Sword
  • Level Eight – Mk VIII Combat Axe, Mk VI Combat Shotgun
  • Level Nine – Mk VII “Devil’s Claw” Sword
  • Level Ten – Mk IV Assault Chainsword, Mk VI Ia Recon Lasgun
  • Level Eleven – Mk VII Tactical Axe
  • Level Twelve – Mk IV Braced Autogun, Mk III Helbore Lasgun
  • Level Thirteen – Mk VId Recon Lasgun, MK III Power Sword
  • Level Fourteen – Mk VII Headhunter Autogun, Mk IV Tactical Axe, Mk IIb Spearheard Boltgun
  • Level Fifteen – Mk IV Chainaxe
  • Level Sixteen – Mk VII Headhunter Autogun, Mk II Plasma Gun
  • Level Seventeen- Nothing
  • Level Eighteen – Mk II Recon Lasgun

Once you pass level 18 with Sharpshooter, you won’t be receiving any more weapon unlocks. This isn’t too bad since by that time you should really have your build for the class figured out and just need to get those last few levels before it is maxed out.

All Zealot Weapon Unlocks in Warhammer 40k Darktide

The Zealot is going to be your frontline melee class that will be running headfirst into the fray alongside your Skullbreaker. Since their class specializes in being toward the front of the team, they have a lot of interesting melee unlocks that are specific to their class. Here are all of the Zealot’s weapon unlocks by level:

  • Level One – Mk III Shredder Autopistol, MK II Combat Axe
  • Level Two – Mk I Infantry Autogun, Mk I “Devil’s Claw” Sword, Mk III Combat Blade, Mk II Braced Autogun, MG Ia Infantry Lasgun, MK VI Combat Shotgun
  • Level Three – MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol, Mk V Combat Axe, MG IV Infantry Lasgun, Mk VI Heavy Sword
  • Level Four – Mk VIII Combat Axe, MG XII Infantry Lasgun
  • Level Five – Mk IV “Devil’s Claw” Sword, Mk III Headhunter Autogun, Mk VII Headhunter Autogun
  • Level Six – Mk II Tactical Axe, Mk V Infantry Autogun
  • Level Seven – Mk VII Heavy Sword, Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver
  • Level Eight – Mk III Purgation Flamer, Mk VII “Devil’s Claw” Sword
  • Level Nine – Mk VIII Headhunter Autogun, Mk IV Assault Chainsword
  • Level Ten – Mk IV Braced Autogun, Mk IX Heavy Sword
  • Level Eleven – Mk VIII Infantry Autogun, Mk II Heavy Eviscerator
  • Level Twelve – Mk IV Tactical Axe, Mk IIb Spearheard Boltgun
  • Level Thirteen – Mk IV Chainaxe
  • Level Fourteen – Mk VIII Braced Autogun, Mk VII Tactical Axe
  • Level Fifteen – Mk II Thunder Hammer
  • Level Sixteen – Mk IVe Crusher
  • Level Seventeen – Nothing
  • Level Eighteen – Mk II Recon Lasgun

The one class-exclusive ranged weapon that the Zealot has really drives home their place in the team. The flamer offers great close-range crowd control at the cost of any way to deal with sniper and other ranged damage units.

All Psyker Weapon Unlocks in Warhammer 40k Darktide

Psyker is the odd middle area for any team since they can provide great ranged pick potential as well as offering some decent crowd control if equipped with the right weapons. The main idea with Psyker is that they channel the power of the Warp rather than using conventional ammo. Here are all of the Psyker’s weapon unlocks by level:

  • Level One – MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol, Mk I “Devil’s Claw” Sword, MG Ia Infantry Lasgun,
  • Level Two – Mk I Infantry Autogun, Mk I Infantry Autogun, Mk III Combat Blade, Mk III Shredder Autopistol, Mk II Duelling Sword, Mk II Blaze Force Sword, MK II Combat Axe,
  • Level Three – Mk V Combat Axe, Mk V Combat Axe,
  • Level Four – MK III Trauma Force Staff, Mk III Headhunter Autogun,
  • Level Five – Mk IV “Devil’s Claw” Sword, MG IV Infantry Lasgun,
  • Level Six – Nothing
  • Level Seven – Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver,
  • Level Eight – Mk VIII Infantry Autogun, Mk VI Surge Force Staff,
  • Level Nine – Nothing
  • Level Ten – Mk VI Ia Recon Lasgun
  • Level Eleven – Mk VIII Combat Axe, Mk V Infantry Autogun, Mk IV Voidstrike Force Staff,
  • Level Twelve – Mk II Recon Lasgun,
  • Level Thirteen – Mk VId Recon Lasgun,
  • Level Fourteen -Mk VIII Braced Autogun, MG XII Infantry Lasgun, Mk V Duelling Sword,
  • Level Fifteen – Mk II Purgatus Force Staff,
  • Level Sixteen – Mk IV Assault Chainsword,
  • Level Seventeen – Nothing
  • Level Eighteen – Mk VII Headhunter Autogun,
  • Level Nineteen – Nothing
  • Level Twenty – Mk IV Duelling Sword

Many of Psykers’ specific weapons change the way they can channel the Warp. Instead of just using it to strike a single enemy, you can use it to create flames, lighting strikes that chain to others, and a larger explosion.

All Ogryn Weapon Unlocks in Warhammer 40k Darktide

Finally, we have the wall that is the Ogryn Skullbreaker. This lovable oaf is the main class to keep some pace between the rest of your team and all of the heretics that want to kill them. Tragically he does have the smallest weapon pool in the game. Here are all of the Ogryn Skullbreaker’s weapon unlocks by level:

  • Level One – Mk I Bully Club, MK IV Cleaver, Mk V Kickback
  • Level Two – MK III Latrine Shovel, Mk II Ripper Gun,
  • Level Three – Nothing
  • Level Four – Mk VI Cleaver
  • Level Five – Mk III Grenadier Gauntlet
  • Level Six – Mk VI Rumbler
  • Level Seven – Nothing
  • Level Eight – Mk V Ripper Gun,
  • Level Nine – Bull Butcher Mk III Cleaver, Mk V Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber,
  • Level Ten – Mk II Battle Maul & Mk II Slab Shield
  • Level Eleven – Mk I Power Maul,
  • Level Seventeen – Mk VI Ripper Gun

Due to their small weapon pool, you have access to most of the Ogryn’s arsenal by level 11. Once you pass that point you only have level 17 to look forward to for a new unlock and that is only a better version of a weapon you already had. Most of the time you will only be rocking a few weapons to really make Ogryn live up to their potential.

How to Transfer Atomic Heart Save File From Gamepass to Steam? https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-transfer-atomic-heart-save-file-from-gamepass-to-steam/ Tue, 21 Feb 2023 22:42:59 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=902258 Many gamers were skeptical about Atomic Heart. They were worried if the game would manage to live up to all the hype it had surrounding it. Luckily, Atomic Heart came out on Gamepass which allowed everyone to try it first to see if they would like the game before buying it fully. Once you have made your mind up about the game, you don’t want to have to replay the intro again on Steam. Let’s go over how to move your saved date for Atomic Heart from one platform to another.

How To Move Your Saved Data For Atomic Heart

Whether you just want to own the game rather than have access to it through Gamepass, or you ran into the “Available in the Full Version of the game” error and want to try the steam version. Whatever the reason, it is quite simple to move your saved data from Gamepass to Steam.

All you need to do is make sure you have saved your game on the Gamepass version of the game. Then you just need to copy the files from the Gamepass save location to the Steam save location.

Related: How to save Atomic Heart on Gamepass

Where To Find Your Gamepass Save of Atomic Heart

Once you have made sure that you have saved your game through Gamepass’s version of Atmoic Hearts, you will want to close the game and open your file browser. Once it is open you will want to navigate to C:/Users/’Username’/AppData/Local/Packages, make sure that the ‘Username’ is replaced with your username on your computer.

Once there you will want to find a folder with Atomic Hearts in the name. The folder will generally have the name of the game followed by a bunch of random numbers and letters. Go inside the folder and select the SystemAppData folder. Inside that folder, you will want to find the wgs folder.

This is the folder that will contain both your save file as well as some sort of container file that the Xbox app uses to identify the save file. Make a copy of the save file and not the container file. Now you will want to place that copy of your save file into your steam version of the game

Where to Put Your Save Data In The Steam Version of Atomic Heart

Before you move your saved data to Steam, you will want to go ahead and download Atomic Heart and launch it through Steam. Just to make sure that all the files that are needed for the game are already in the right place.

After you have done that, you will want to quickly make a new game in Atomic Hearts and get to the point that it saves. As soon as it saves, you will want to close the game and navigate to your Steam download folder and into the userdata folder there.

Inside that folder, you will want to sort all of the files by recently modified. You can simplify it even more by using the search bar to filter out any files that were not modified today. Now it is just looking around the folders until you find a save file that looks similar to the one you copied out of your Gamepass version of Atomic Heart and replace it.

This should allow you to pick right up from where you left off on the Gamepass version of the game. You can now safely delete the Gamepass version of Atomic Heart once you know the save transfer worked. You can also cancel your subscription to gamepass if you only got it to try out Atomic Heart.

WoW Vault of the Incarnates DPS Tier List https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/wow-vault-of-the-incarnates-dps-tier-list/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/wow-vault-of-the-incarnates-dps-tier-list/#respond Fri, 17 Feb 2023 12:16:56 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=900617 When it comes to raiding in World of Warcraft, you always want the best of the best on your team. After all, if you are trying to clear an encounter, you wouldn’t want to make it harder by having less DPS than you should. But even outside of DPS some classes are better suited for specific raids based on the mechanics that you will run into. Let’s go over the best DPS classes to have with you in Vault of the Incarnates in World of Warcraft Dragonflight.

Best DPS Classes for Vault of the Incarnates in World of Warcraft

While any DPS specialization can make it through a raid, some are just better to use than others. Be it for their survivability or the fact that their rotation is more suited for sustained combat that raids offer. It is important to remember that some DPS classes are great for regular solo content and dungeons, but not for raids.

With that said, let’s go over the best DPS classes and specializations for Vault of the Incarnates:

S TierHavoc Demon Hunter, Assassination Rouge, Outlaw Rogue, Subtlety Rogue, Frost Mage, Arcane Mage, Devastation Evoker, Balance Druid, Enhancement Shaman
A TierFire Mage, Fury Warrior, Arms Warrior, Beast Mastery Hunter, Frost Death Knight, Shadow Priest, Windwalker Monk, Frost Death Knight, Unholy Deathkinght, Demonology Warlock, Destruction Warlock, Marksmanship Hunter, Elemental Shaman,
B TierAffliction Warlock, Feral Druid
C TierRetribution Paladin, Survival Hunter

S Tier DPS Specializations for Vault of the Incarnates

With these S Tier DPS specs, you can expect the best in class single target damage. Normally they are able to not only apply decent DOT damage but back it up with some decent rotations to pump their numbers up even further.

Each of these classes also has some really great utility spells and abilities to help them out if they are in a pinch. Normally granting them some sort of immunity or self-healing to recover in case you mess up with a mechanic and don’t want to wipe.

A Tier DPS Specialization for Vault of the Incarnates

While many of the DPS specializations in this tier are very strong, they tend to be lacking in a specific department be it sustained DPS or a lack of good burst damage. While they are still plenty viable to use for the raid, you won’t be breaking to the top of the damage charts should any of the S-class DPS specs be around.

Each of these classes does still have some useful utility in one way or another, which helps keep them up high on the list. So they are still able to clutch up when needed.

B Tier DPS Specialization for Vault of the Incarnates

These DPS specs are not really what you want to see more than one or two of them in a raid team. They bring a lot of useful utility to a raid and can deal a decent amount of damage but they will be outclassed by many of the other DPS specs.

C Tier DPS Specialization for Vault of the Incarnates

Finally, we have the last tier of DPS specs, these are by no means useless but they are not going to shine as bright as they could in a raid team. Both of these specs have some decent utility but are quite lacking in damage. Overall, you would be better off switching to a different spec for your class instead of running one of these in the Vault of Incarnates.

Best Classes in Dark and Darker Ranked Tier List https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-classes-in-dark-and-darker-ranked-tier-list/ https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/best-classes-in-dark-and-darker-ranked-tier-list/#respond Thu, 16 Feb 2023 14:58:13 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=883940 Dark and Darker is what you get when you cross Dungeons and Dragons with Escape From Tarkov. A brutal dungeon-crawling adventure where you not only need to fight your average dungeon monsters but also your fellow adventurers. All so you can make it out with the most loot possible. Since Dark and Darker is based on Dungeons and Dragons, you need to pick a class to play to go adventuring.

Each class in Dark and Darker has its own unique playstyle. Having their own set of abilities and perks that are unique to each class. As well as having their own weapons that they can use. Each class excels at one thing or another in the dungeon, which makes some classes better than others for different playstyles. Let’s go over the best class to play as in Dark and Darker.

Best Classes in Dark and Darker

Each class has its own strengths in the dungeons, but sadly some classes are stronger in areas that don’t matter most of the time. Being really tanky and hard to kill is great if you have someone else doing damage. It’s not as nice when you need to fight back by yourself. Here are the best classes in Dark and Darker.

Barbarian

The barbarian is quite the powerhouse in Dark and Darker. They are the only class at the moment that swings around two-handed weapons, which puts their damage up in the highest tier. They also have a lot of HP to compensate for the lack of armor they start out with. In most cases, if a barbarian gets close to you in combat they will win.

This is what makes them the strongest class in the game, especially for solo play. All you need to worry about when you are in a fight as a barbarian is closing the gap between you and your opponent and you should be able to win.

Related: How to Escape in Dark and Darker on Touch Tap Play

Rogue

If you were to check the leaderboards for the highest kills in Dark and Darker, there is a good chance you will see a few rouges up near the top. They are a class that is built to quickly kill anyone that they can catch off guard. Laying in wait to ambush another player is what they excel at with their ability to blend into the darkness.

The only drawback to playing a rouge is that they are almost useless if they get caught out. You really need the advantage that comes from catching someone off guard as you don’t have as much consistent damage output as other classes do. However, once you do get the sneak attack off in a fight, it is as good as yours to win.

Cleric

Any party going into the dungeons will want to have a cleric on their side. They are the best class in Dark and Darker for not only keeping your party alive but dealing with any undead that you happen to come across in the dungeon as well. A cleric is also quite capable in a fight so they don’t just have to sit around and wait for your party to get hurt before they can be useful.

While they might not be the 1v1 champion that a barbarian is, they are key for making it to the deepest levels of a dungeon and having everyone escape alive.

Ranger

While ranger might seem like the most powerful class on paper, in practice it is quite different. They do have an unlimited supply of arrows and a trap that can render enemies immobile. However, all of these pros are ruined in practice by having a low damage output and no close-range defense.

All of their perks rely on the person you are attacking staying a decent distance away from you. However, the twisting corridors of the dungeon will provide ample cover for your target to hide behind if they choose to run away. You will be in even more trouble if they choose to fight you and they don’t stay stuck in your trap.

Wizard

The main spell slinger of Dark and Darker has their role as a monster clearing machine. The spells that Wizard comes with are great for clearing out a room of zombies and ghosts, but it’s a different story when it comes to players. They really suffer from the same problem that rangers do of needing enemies to stay at a set range and not hide from them.

The wizard does have a bit more utility in the form of speed and slow spells, as well as an invisibility spell to help them sneak up on someone. But if the other adventurer they are fighting gets within melee range, the wizard is going to have a bad time.

Fighter

The fighter is a great beginner class for the game. They have a high defense, stacking damage with combo attacks, and they move faster than other classes will when wearing armor. However, this puts them in the boat of a jack-of-all-trades. They will always be out-damaged by a barbarian, they can still be kited out by a ranged class.

The only real thing a fighter has going for them is their high defense. which is nice when going up against monsters, but can be abused by players. It is a great class to learn the ropes of the game with, but once you understand the basics you will probably want to make a different character to play with.

Are Any of the Dark and Darker Classes Inherently Not Worth My Time?

No, even though classes such as Fighter may just be generally for beginners this does not mean they are going to be totally invalid in general play. The high defense is still going to be a massive point of draw for many players so you shouldn’t feel as though you will be less valuable to the team if using Fighter.

If you feel most comfortable using a certain class then be sure to stick to it but eventually venture outside of your comfort zone every once in a while to get much more familiar with other classes. You will be defeating the Goblin caves boss in no time.

Dark and Darker is set to release in 2023 on PC.

How to get Valor and Upgrade Mythic+ Dungeon Gear in WoW Dragonflight https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/how-to-get-valor-and-upgrade-mythic-dungeon-gear-in-wow-dragonflight/ Thu, 16 Feb 2023 12:19:46 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=900009 When it comes to getting some of the best gear in World of Warcraft, many players turn to Mythic+ Dungeons. These dungeon runs are the same as their regular dungeon counterparts but with extra modifiers applied to them and the difficulty scaled up a bit more. However, the loot you get from your weekly Mythic dungeon cache can be even better once you upgrade it with a bit of Valor. Let’s go over how you get Valor and where you can spend it in World of Warcraft Dragonflight.

How to Get Valor in World of Warcraft Dragonflight

Despite Valor being used to upgrade your Mythic+ gear, you don’t actually need to run any Mythic+ dungeons to farm it. Every run of a regular dungeon will earn you a crisp 135 Valor to be spent on upgrading Mythic+ gear to make the strongest DPS classes even stronger.

If you do happen to already be farming up your Mythic+ score for better gear, you will be rewarded a bit of extra valor for doing a Mythic+ dungeon. You will get an extra 65 Valor on top of the standard 135 Valor you are used to.

Related: World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Trading Post Guide — Currency, Rewards, and Location

There is a weekly cap of 750 Valor that you can earn each week. With the start of each season, the first week’s Valor cap is increased to 1,500. However, this is only for the first week of a season to help get the ball rolling and let people begin to stockpile. Even if you spend some Valor each week, you will not be able to earn past that 750 cap.

Where Can You Spend Valor to Upgrade Mythic+ Gear in World of Warcraft Dragonflight

If you are looking to spend your hard-earned Valor, make your way to the Valdrakken, just to the east of The Obsidian Enclave. Once inside the building, look for Corxian, he should be next to a training dummy and be labeled as an item upgrades NPC.

Once you interact with him, you can to drag your Mythic+ gear into a window and spend Valor to upgrade it. The process is quite simple, but make sure you want to upgrade each piece of gear since there is a weekly limit on how much Valor you can earn.

Once you do have some upgraded gear, you will be ready to dive back into some harder Mythic+ dungeons. If you are still having trouble getting through some of the harder content in the game, you might want to give a hunter a try. They have some pretty strong specializations for this expansion.

Will Resetting Your Pottermore Account Affect Hogwarts Legacy Game Progress? https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/will-resetting-your-pottermore-account-affect-hogwarts-legacy-game-progress/ Wed, 15 Feb 2023 10:41:08 +0000 https://attackofthefanboy.com/?p=899437 Many fans of Harry Potter have already linked their Pottermore Account to Hogwarts Legacy to receive their rewards and get their house and wand carried over. But for one reason or another, many people will want to reset their Pottermore account but don’t want to mess up their save for Hogwarts Legacy. Let’s go over what happens when you reset your Pottermore account and if it affects your Hogwarts Legacy save.

Does Your Pottermore Account Affect Your Hogwarts Legacy Save If You Change It

Maybe you want to start a second character or maybe you just want to retake the quizzes. Whatever the reason is, you want to reset your Pottermore account but don’t want to ruin your save in Hogwarts Legacy. It makes sense since you don’t want all of your effort to go to waste in your save just because you want to change some things around outside of the game.

Luckily, you can safely reset your Pottermore account and it will not affect your Hogwarts Legacy save. Once you are past the point of selecting your house and picking your wand, your Pottermore account has no real impact on the game. That is of course assuming you have already claimed all of your rewards from it.

So you can safely start your second playthrough with your retaken quizzes without fear that it will change your first playthrough. This way you can be in the house you were given through the Pottermore quiz and receive the wand you were assigned without the need to make one.

It would have been nice if your Patronus quiz answers had a bit more of an impact on the game. But maybe the spell will be coming in the future and your answers will matter, so make sure you have taken the quiz just to be safe. Otherwise, you will have to go through whatever quiz the game has to get your Patronus when they are added.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’ll become available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 4, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version will be out on July 25, 2023.
